"This hotel was not what I expected for the price per night.The front desk staff didn't respond to us as soon as we walked in even though he was in the other room sitting watching TV. The room was dark, musty and had a balcony leading to a residential's home. Did not feel safe leaving anything of value in the room. No curtains to keep the light out. The rugs were still wet from shampooing I assume and felt nasty to walk across. There were spider webs in three locations on the ceilingas and a left over spider smashed between the door jamb in the bathroom. Hard in the corners of the bathroom floors, stuff on the wall beside the toilet area, not sure what it was.. mold around the tub had been covered up by a new clear caulk. Heavy dust on the TV stand and the head board. The in room coffee maker was dirty and old looking. When we made the coffee it had a film layer in it so we didn't drink it. Good: Close to the beach, great food from Papa Guido's Pizza. Sorry Wave, just wasn't up to standards even for the reasonables"

"This hotel has a geat location close to LAX and the freeways. We were in California for 5 days and needed a place close to the beaches with easy access to the freeways and airport. It was comfortable but seemed a bit musty. We did not stay at the hotel durign the day so did not use any facitlities as we were sightseeing. The price was right and parking was plentiful and easily accessbile which is rare in many hotels arounf LA. Continental breakfast and wifi were a plus."

"This hotel is more of a 'motel'. From the outside, it looks decent . Lobby is very small, 2 leveled motel with about 20 rooms. There were no visible security on the premises, nor were there any in the undergroud parking garage. We stayed on the first level, facing the very dinky pool, which was a joke. It was the smallest pool i've ever seen with 3 beach chairs around. The room had motion sensored light switches and it was very annoying that the bathroom light turned off every 15 mins. The carpet was very old and i found a hair under the bed covers, which was a big turn off. Even with all the lights on, the room was still dimly lit. Though, the shower was superb with more than sufficient hot water. Front desk staff was accommodating, but i barely needed anything major. Despite the cons, this motel is located in a very convenient location, close to the major freeway, 15 mins to LAX, 10 seconds fron Target, 30 mins to Hollywood, 30 mins to Chinatown/Little Tokyo, 30 mins to Santa Monica and Venice area, ample free parking, wifi, and continental breakfast (pastries, cereals, bagels, coffee, hot chocolate, tea, juices). The wifi signal was very strong on the first level. I don't believe this motel is walkable to any nearby beaches. We stayed for 2 nights and that was doable. If I visit LA again, I likely won't stay here. I prefer a chain 'hotel' feel, rather than a dampy 'motel' feel. Overall, if you're in LA for 1-2 nights, this motel is decent, any longer than that, I would suggest at least a four star hotel for added security and comfort."

"I stay here for 5weeks. Room was always clean and tidy. CRT TV was a let down. Bath plug didn't work. Hotel wasn't too noisy, even on 4th July! Free parking. Internet was a joke. SLOW ! Convenient shops around."

"I HAD A PLEASANT STAY. THE SINK DID NOT DRAIN PROPERLY, THE TOILET FLUSHED SLOWLY, NOT GOOD TV SERVICE, BUT I HAD EVERYTHING I NEEDED. SMALL FRIDGE DID NOT WORK WELL. WASH TOWELS WERE SLOW COMING, BUT OVERALL IT WAS A DECENT HOTEL."

"1. No security for the property. Anyone can get in at any time like any motel].
2. Wireless Internet works only in lobby [not in the room].
3. 'Multi-lingual' staff means that some understand English.
4. 'Extended' breakfast does not include anything hot [no eggs, bacon saugages]
5. Walikng to the beach is ok for 1 day [way too long to be practical].
5. People are very nice and try to do the best with what they are are given, but management is very, very cheap."

"Older Hotel that needs to work out the bugs so customers don't have to keep complaining. Electrical problems.Card reader problems (every time we wanted to get in). We had a large hot tub in the middle of the room that was unusable.(take it out). We checked in as 3 people and they kept shorting us on washclothes.(Said they didn't have any they could give us). Bath tub had no plug, and sink did not want to drain.Didn't have TV controller (they went and got one from another room). Thick dust around TV area. Air conditioner noisy. The rating on the internet was higher than it should have been.I give them a 2.5 -3"

"The hotel is exactly what you pay for. The room is quite spacious and has the basic necessities you need if you only plan to stay for a couple of days. The carpeting and TV could use an upgrade but the staff was friendly and helpful. The room looks outdated in color but a new paint job and carpet would probably do the trick. There is free wifi, garage parking and breakfast for no charge. The location to Manhattan Beach is only a couple mins away and the airport is only 13 mins away. I wouldn't mind staying here again if it's only for a weekend."

"Our stay was comfortable and pleasant. Other than a few ants, the room was clean. The place was quiet with a central pool and jacuzzi; spa rooms were available for more money. The breakfast room was well stocked with cereal, coffee, pastries, English muffins and bagels. I would definitely stay there again - great value!"

"Although this motel is a bit of a walk from down town Manhattan Beach its in a fantastic location. The walk has plenty to offer, the airport is less then 10 minutes away, shops are close by, and you are easily accessible to public transport. The motel is a little run down, but the rooms are very spacious, with fantastic bathrooms, beds, heaters, free internet, breakfasts etc!! We were very happy with our stay here, definitely no complaints!!"

"This place was VERY spacious and clean. Some upgrades could be taken there for sure. They have a bit of a leaking problem at some of the windows in the rooms when it rains...probably needs new window installations. Our light outlet over the vanity/sink area did not work, so we had to open the window to give more light to that area. I would have liked to have seen the price a bit cheaper for the needed upgrades...but overall...the stay was fine. Beds are comfortable, lots of room, very clean, and housekeeping staff...super friendly and helpful while there. The breakfast area was clean and nice, with plently of food choice."

"dirty carpets, humid wet carpets, crappy service, water leaks in car garage, seems like they collect there room cards, ice buckets and pillows from other hotel trips, but be advised room is nasty, out sheets and blankets had stains in it. Th breakfast, was not hot as advertised, SMOOSHED OLD FRUIT AND DRIED UP BAGELS yum. Not happy at all, BEWARE, all surfers this is a dump, all people dont do it!"

"If you are looking for a five star hotel this is not the hotel for you. However, if you want to spend less than $100 a night, want the convenience of a free shuttle from LAX, easy access to the Beach cities, and a decent-sized room then look no further. Because this is a budget hotel there is only one person manning the front desk and phones so it may take a while to get them to answer the phone. I have only seen one housekeeper so it takes a while to get the rooms ready. If you want an early check-in I recommend paying for the extra night or you will probably have to wait. After seeing mixed reviews I was a little nervous so I was pleasantly surprised. As a matter of fact, I am staying extra nights due to the Qantas grounding."

"The Wave hotel was very clean, pool area was kept clean, pool was nice, but spa water was not very clean. Rooms were spacious, employees were friendly. The area was very nice. Location very close to the beach and downtown Manhattan beach. Well worth the cost, and would definitely stay there again."

"Great stay at the Wave Hotel. A nice, what I'd say was a '3-star' place, but for the price, it was an incredible deal. Wanted a king-sized bed. The only one available was in a suite, so they upgraded me at no extra charge! Good breakfast. Good location. Way better than expected."

they have free breakfast, however no hot items. just breads, jams, cream cheese.

i only wish they would add even hard boiled eggs or soups.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay at Wave .Clean rooms, friendly staff. We will be back next year and intend to stay a week at Wave before moving on. Location was great, exceptional deal (cost) breakfast and parking, plus all other extras a bonus we didn't expect, but will ensure we return. We will recommend Wave to anyone we know who is travelling through LA. The Kings, Australia

"Clean, friendly, walking distance to beach, free continental breakfast, clean pool...all reasons to go back and stay for my 2nd trip to Manhattan Beach.



The only minus was the room we stayed in was on the ground floor and not much outdoor light. But it was huge."
