"This was my first time at Grand Coco Bay and i loved the location and loved how small and quaint it was. The staff were all very friendly and had smiles on their faces all the time. I would totally stay at this hotel again and would recomend it to everyone. The food was good, if you are a picky eater it is a place for you, if you can't find what you like at the buffet or at the snack bar you have to be really picky then. The rooms are clean, the only problem is the main bathroom by the pool was stinky!"

"The common areas, swimming pool, restaurants were clean and modern. However, the rooms were a bit dated and not as clean as I would have liked. Rooms need to be remodeled. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Overall, price paid was worth it."

"Overall relaxing vacation. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the live entertainment options they offered and different 'themed nights'. Mexican night was set up in the main hotel ballroom area rather than the Miramar so that you could meet other couples and watch dancers from the various regions of Mexico. The staff are hard working, talented, fun, and engaging. The boats harbored in front of the beach did not bother us and you could walk a short way to other beaches. Our first night there was a party being held at the neighboring restaurant/bar on the south side of the property that was very loud and disruptive, but after that it was quiet and peaceful. We had no difficulty making reservations at either of their specialty restaurants and found something for everyone at the Miramar buffet. The beds and pillows are not Hilton quality and I saw many complaints posted about them. They're not super comfortable, but it didn't prevent us from getting a good night's sleep. The maids kept our room very clean and they stock the mini refrigerator with a couple of beers, soda, and two 1-ltr bottles of water every other day. If you needed more water, you could purchase additional at the desk or refill your bottles from the water stations. When booking, if you truly need a king size bed you should specify in the special requests section - we did not and ended up with two full size beds but were upgraded to an ocean view for that. We ran into other couples that had that same issue. Every room has a balcony and either a hammock (ground floor) or chairs (upper floors). The hot tubs are not hot, but the pool is a nice size. The $15/day charge for internet is ridiculous but we were there to 'unplug' anyway. The location is very convenient to 5th Avenue, the ferry to Cozumel, and other excursions. The scuba shop has day trips to other locations through smaller companies and had exactly what we wanted - a morning in Tulum and then snorkeling in Akumal with sea turtles. We would recommend this hotel to those not looking for high quality but good value."

"We just spent 9 days at the Grand Coco Bay and had a great time. The food was good, great variety for all different tastes. The staff was friendly,helpful and entertaining. The boats in the bay added character and provided interest to the pics, the ocean's big...just look a different direction if you want to see open water :) Yes the beds were a little hard but the rooms are clean. The hotel is within a nice walking distance or cheap cab ride to 5th Ave and is fairly central for excursions. All in all, a great trip and would recommend this hotel."

"First of all, the food was average, nothing to brag about. Beds were hard and very uncomfortable. The staff was very warm, friendly, and helpful. The gift shop is way overpriced. Change your money to pesos so you don't get ripped off because they convert it and you never know if they will mess up. The swim up bar was disappointing, but the bar in the buffet area, and the bar in the club is fabulous. The beach view was cluttered with boats anchored. And there was not much beach! The water was beautiful and the sand was white, but the boats in the way of the view was not expected and was disappointing. It was convenient that the anchored boats were only infront of Grand Coco Bay, and no other resort. WiFi is 100 pesos for 30 minutes, or $10 which is ridiculous. It should be included. Overall I had a great experience in Mexico, but if these things were not hindering my experience it would have been better. Specially the beds and lack of blankets!"

"In general it was a very nice stay, clean rooms, good food, not too much beach in front of the hotel but you can easily walk to near public beaches. The shows at the hotel was modest but you can have a good time. Also we got a free upgrade for one night to the Sandos Caracol a much better hotel, it worth it."

"Coco Bay was wonderful and we would return. The staff was very friendly and if you needed anything, all you had to do ws ask and they would make it happen. Our 3 and 9 year old girls did not want to leave. Food was not fantastic, but we are slighlty picky and we certianly did not go hungry. The salad bar, fruit bar, and bread bar was all fantastic. There were afew negatives, the beds we very hard and we did not sleep well, and there are not enough chairs on the beach or at the pool. If there were another 100 charis or so added to the pool area, it would be a lot nicer to not have to worry about having a chair to sit at. We met a lot of nice people at the resort, mostly from Canada, but a few from the US as well. Val if you read this, I managed to lose you e-mail address, so is why you did not hear from us!!"

"the swim up bar was disappointing. It was way understaffed and the service to those 'swimming up' to the bar was basically non-existent. Also -- it closed when the Mirarmar restaurant opened for dinner at 6:00 or 6:30. You also couldn't get a dry towel after that time either so you better hang onto your towel from the day. I also agree that it was disappointing to see all of the anchored boats blocking the view of the water. The three steps down to the beach area were precarious to say the least. We were never able to use the 'roof top' hot tub (which really wasn't on the roof but adjacent to the top floor of rooms) as it was never turned on early enough for it to warm up. The room was fine -- nothing fancy but comfortable. The wait staff was GREAT! They were very attentive and friendly. Overall, we had a really fun time. "

"Myself and two other friends went to grand coco bay resort the 22-29th october 2011--while it is not the four seasons-we had a great time--i do not know what people are talking about when they say such negative things about the resort--the drinks where made the way you like them-strong or weak--the food was fine-you could always find something you liked-- the two bartenders would remember what you liked-the mexican and italian restaurants were good-we were allowed to go more than our once each restaurant, i think because the resort was not full at the beginning of our week--the staff couldn't have been nicer--we had a leak in our ceiling at 2:00am and maintance was there in five minuts and fixed the problem--our houskeeper was a dear! The women in the spa gave me the best deep tissue massage i've ever had---tropical storm 'rina' came while we were there and although i feel they did not keep us informed on conditions and their plans for us, they had a plan--the pool was cleaned daily-activity kids were fun-everyone could not have been nicer to us- the bellman was very nice when we wanted to change rooms- One of the staff members tried to answer all my questions before we came--i would go back in a heart beat!!"
