"We had a lovely time...it's so beautiful there. One of the best resorts we've been to. Couple of weird things was our toilet...it wouldn't flush and someone had to go and fix it a couple of times, but they were very prompt! FYI the hotel vouchers don't really do much unless you get a massage and buy their wine...got $40 off each, so we saved $80 for couple's massage. But we scheduled for 80 minute massages and they booked us for only 50 minutes, which was disappointing. My masseuse was not the best, I felt like she was rushing, kind of like a fast rub down. :-/ For the price we paid and the minutes I was expecting, it should have been better. But that didn't bother me much...Preferred guests only perks is the access to premium alcohol and h'orderves in the preferred main lobby/dining area, three bottles of Jamaican alcohol in your room (which we didn't even open), a 'preferred guests only' private pool and beach entrance, and the tub outside our balcony which is small and not the one pictured on the internet. Truth is, in the exception of the tub in balcony and alcohol in room, everything else you have access to. Preferred guests do not wear a wrist band or anything, so you can easily use the pool and walk into lobby and get premium liquor. I read a review saying this exact same thing before I booked and wish I would've listened...could've saved me a couple of hundred bucks LOL, therefore SAVE UR $, get the regular room...But other than that, it was pleasant. The staff was very friendly, restaurant was great. Hope to go back soon!"

"We just spent a long weekend at Secrets St James and had a fantastic time. It is a place we highly recommend and want to go back to.
We had an Ocean Front room on the 5th floor. The view was amazing, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was very well fitted, and the room was extremely well sound proofed.
All the pools were great and not over-crowded and it was always easy to get a drink. There were plenty of chairs both on the beach and at the pools.
We also enjoyed some really great food at Bordeaux, Portofino and Himitsu. The breakfast and lunch at the World Cafe was great. If you like jerk chicken the jerk chicken wagons on the boardwalk are a must. Also, the Barefoot cafe was great to get a quick bite during the day. The food at the Mexican place was hit and miss. Mine was quite good but my wife's was pretty bad (she had the tuna). Overall, we were very happy with the food.
We had a free upgrade to the Preferred Guest facilities (pool, lounge and internet). Both my wife and I agreed that the Pool and the Lounge access wouldn't be enough to warrant paying for the upgrade and the internet daily fee is a lot cheaper than the upgrade if you want it.
We did do the included kayaking, sailing, snorkeling and tennis clinic. They were all very very good. The staff in all of these areas were really friendly and helpful.
We also did an 80 minute massage on the beach over sunset. It was probably more expensive than one would expect but boy was it amazing.
One of the nice things about the resort was your ability to go from a lively place to a peaceful place depending on what you wanted. We met some great people and made some new friends but we were also able to spend some time just as a couple.
Overall, we loved Secrets Saint James and hope to return soon.

"The property is beautiful. The staff is even better. As soon as you get off the bus they 'welcome you home'. They do their best to keep it spotless. It's tough to keep up with guests that are disrespectful and leave glasses and other items anywhere they want to. They're probably the same guests that put towels on a chaise lounge but never seem to lay on them. Unfortunately Secrets can't pick and choose their guests.
I understand some of the reviews regarding the lay out. For those who don't like to walk this may not be the place for you. We went with another couple and enjoy walking the property. It helps burn off calories.
Both my wife and I drink particular liquor which is only available on the inside bars and the piano bar. Not a big deal. I got out of the sun for a few minutes and took a short walk to get it. The servers knew what I wanted and I never needed to tell them after the first time.
We stayed on the St. James side. Our room was great. We were on the 3rd floor with both a pool & ocean view.
I eat gluten free and the staff was very accommodating. The food & service was very good.
The hibachi grill was fantastic. After asking everyone that we sat with at the hibachi table if they minded the cook 'Rooster' prepared my meal first and than cooked for the other 9 people. He put on a great show and has a great sense of humor. The server that takes care of the drinks was just as good. He went to the piano bar and brought back Ciroc vodka that was not available at Himitsu.
We also ate at the French, Italian & Mexican restaurants. All 4 of us enjoyed our choices and recommend them all.
Breakfast is buffet style. I'm not a fan of buffet but was happy with their selection. If you order at the omelet station it is best that you place your omelet order first than walk away to get the other breakfast items & juice that you want. By the time you get everything your omelet will be just about done.
The 'PRESENTATION' should take about 90 minutes. We did listen to it. It does take more than what your told. They do not make you feel uncomfortable. We did not buy and don't recommend that you go unless you plan on buying or want to waste 2 hours of your vacation time.
My wife and I got massages at the spa. While we enjoyed the time we spent there it was not a world class spa that I expected. In fact they did not have any spa music playing.
The casino or their version of one is terrible. This is the only place where I would say that the employees were not very pleasant.
The activities team are awesome.
We definitely recommend this Secrets and would go there again.

"My experience at Secrets St james was amazing, from begining to end me and my husband were treated like ROYALTY. If anyone has anything bad to say about this resort they are just plain complainers period. The property is beautiful and kept very clean. The staff was very friendly, food was good not great but I was not complaining! I would recommend going to the Spa, getting a VIP taxi and going Downtown Mobay as the locals would say, do not be discouraged to leave the property! Overall my birthday/vacation was everything I dreamed."

"This was mine and my fiancés first all inclusive trip and out of USA trip and we stayed for 7 days. I did extensive research and the things that I would really like to hit on is that tipping is appreciated. Some resorts say that there is NO tipping but here the employees did accept tips. I did not find the service to be less when we did not tip but I would suggest to bring a few dollars out with you when you leave your room. Also, St.James and Wild Orchid are connected! So if you stay at either of the hotels you are free to walk about both properties. I had a few people tell me that when they booked, Wild Orchid was cheaper but I found that to be different when we booked. Check out the rates for both. I did get engaged here during the romantic dinner which was amazing. The server was fantastic and made sure we were well taken care of. Make sure you read the dress code for the restaurant because I saw a few people turned away at dinners because they were not in the right attire. I also recommend visiting the bartender, Martino! He kept the drinks coming and also had great advise on some excursions you should do. We decided on the Luminous Lagoon (AN ABSOLUTE MUST) and the Y.S Fall, Appleton Rum Tour, and the Black River Tour. We also went deep sea fishing but didn't have much luck. All of the outside excursions expect tips because they are not directly connected to the resort, so take a few extra dollars. Over all the staff were excellent on satisfying any requests and were very helpful. Some reviews mention the rocks but they were not terrible. They are there to hold the beach and they were not littering the place. Once you got in a little further they were all gone. I would definitely recommend this place to others and will hopefully return one day!"

"Overall very nice resort. If you are going to stay it is worth staying the preferred side if you want some peace and quit. There also was a tub on the balcony which was very nice. I do have to say the resort is kept very clean. I had gone with my boyfriend for my birthday and the staff was great! The staff was friendly, and smiling always communicating with their guest. The food was okay, which is somewhat expected out of an all inclusive. Also, if you have valuables LOCK THEM UP. My expensive sunglasses went missing after leaving them on the dresser and going out to dinner, leaving me to make a missing report and hope they were found. Upsetting for the amount of money we paid to stay at this resort, and the amount of money paid for those sunglasses."

"We have been to this resort 3 times and love it. The resort has added some very nice touches since our trip last year. (Bocce ball, horseshoes, a beach bar, additional outdoor seating for dinner...) Our only complaint is that it seems the resort caters to corporate events rather than vacationers. We noticed this last year. This year there was a very loud corporate event on the beach until about 11:30PM. This was very frustrating since my wife was not feeling well and was trying to rest. The resort is very well kept and beautiful, we just wish it would cater to vacationers and not corporations."

"Our stay at St. James overall was nice. The resort was beautiful. Everything was extremely clean and most of the staff were very friendly and always smiled. We had a beautiful top floor room to celebrate our anniversary and our birthdays. That being said, we had an ant problem the first 4 nights, which we called about daily but it continued. I finally asked one of the maids, who had a bottle of ant spray if she could spray again. She was very pleasant and after that, we did not see anymore ants. We never knew if anyone had sprayed during our earlier complaints because we were out of the room a lot. We also had issues with our room safe the first 3 days. Someone had to come up 3 different days to re-set the code. The first guy told us not to hit one of the buttons on there, which we had not done anyway. The safe would work and then it would not work again. The second guy came up and reset it again. It worked and then it did not work. The third guy got his tools out and went all through it. That semed to solve the problem. The morning of my birthday, we were scheduled for breakfast in bed. I was up around 7 and went toward the bathroom. To my surprise, there was a flood of water all over the bathroom floor. I looked up and saw the ceiling was leaking and beginning to sag in. We were told that we would be moved but not until after 3:00. That afternoon, they had finally found us a new room which they said was right near where we had been staying. We were told it was 'so close that you do not need a bellhop to help you move your bags'. We actually ended up in another building in a much smaller room that was not nearly as nice as the anniversary room we had previously. We also made 3 trips to move our items from one room to the other with no help from the staff. This was Thursday the 29th. We were leaving on Saturday morning. So we had to pack all of our belongings, move to a new room, unpack for the rest of the day and that night, then repack Friday evening to leave Saturday morning. We were told that we would have our breakfast in bed moved to Saturday morning at 7:30-8:00 for our inconvenience. We had to be in the lobby for the shuttle at 9am so we said that it would be fine. We would eat while we were getting ready to leave. Saturday morning, 8:00 came and went. I called down for breakfast and was told that we were scheduled for 9:30. I said we had to be on the shuttle at 9:00. She said 'Let me see what I can do.' She came back and asked if quarter til 9 was good. I told her again, we need to be on the shuttle at 9. She said 'then I cannot help you, and that was the end of that. It seemed that as our vacation was coming toward an end, the staff was less eager to help us have a nice, memorable vacation. We felt like they had our money and because we were leaving soon, we were not as important as the new arrivals. Because of that, we don't know if we would return again. The first morning, I realized that I had forgotten some important medication and I was quite panicked. She found a pharmacy and had some delivered to me and then every time I saw her, she asked me how I was and if things were ok."

"The Resort itself is complete paradise. The food selection is wonderful. I would strongly suggest waiting to book excursions while at the resort though.
Our first offsite adventure was only suppose to have us off site from 9 am till 2 pm. We did not get back till 8 pm. 11 hours offsite was not what we wanted and were essentially stranded until the shuttle was ready for a full bus. The second excursion was cancelled due to lack of participants."

"Jamaica was beautiful and the people were very friendly. We took our honeymoon and invited some friends to travel with us. We have a great time. Our room was nice and the Ocean View was actually an ocean view. We were in the Dominican Republic at Now Larimar and paid for an 'Ocean View' but the building was so far away from the water and obstructed that we could only hear the water. The food was pretty good and drinks were also pretty good. I would definitely recommend it. The only negative was the mosquitos in the room every night. Not a lot, but enough to make my wife uncomfortable."

We were at an all inclusive resort and that meant everything!!! We actually forgot to bring money for tip one night at dinner and when we went out the next night for dinner we had the same waitress and she served us as if we tipped her a million bucks the previous night. lol... "We just returned from Secrets St. James and had an amazing time. Our check in was very smooth. They do give a timeshare pitch but there is no pressure, unlike every other all-inclusive resort I have been to. I said no thank you and that was it. The rooms are gorgeous with a wonderful view of the ocean (all rooms are ocean view but the higher you are, the better the view). I love the a la carte dining as opposed to a buffet and making reservations for restaurants (the Himitsu is the exception there - you do need reservations because the restaurant only seats a limited amount of people for hibachi). Men - you need long pants for dinner if you want to sit inside the restaurant. There is a buffet available for those who prefer that over a la carte. Be sure to get chicken from the jerk chicken cart - we skipped lunch most days and just ate that! The drinks were always flowing and the staff was beyond friendly. The entertainment staff was great, as well. We love our tie dye t-shirts!! I had planned to go to Aruba in a couple years for my 40th birthday but will instead return to this resort. It is beyond comparison."

"This resort was amazing! The staff was the best you will find and the 'Preferred Club' was well worth it (upgrade when booking, not at the resort for a HUGE savings)!! My husband and I spent 5 wonderful nights here and had no complaints other than make sure to read the dress codes for the dinning options for dinner. I would recommend this to friends and family members who want to relax, enjoy, and have a wonderful time. This resort also had a well rounded variation of newlyweds, young and old, and couples that had been married for years. Unlike the 'Sandles' resort that seemed to be all newlywed, young couples. I would go back tomorrow if my work would allow the time off!!!! A definate must visit resort!"

"I loved the hotel, staff, food, beach, and entertainment. My husband and I had so much fun. We had such a good time, we are planning on going back in two years. The only drawback was the desserts. Although the food entries were great, the desserts were not good. They had tons and tons of options, however they were not sweet and left a bad after taste in your mouth. Believe me when I say I tried all their desserts and only found one that taste good, not great but good."

This was the best resort ever! The service was impeccable. From the time you get out of the car to when you leave you are waited on hand and foot. The room was incredible! The resort is truly designed for romance and fun. This trip was for our anniversary and when we arrived there was a ribbon on the door that said, 'Happy Anniversary'. I could write the longest review ever but I will keep it short. We normally do not do the same location twice for our vacation but we really want to go back and stay longer. Thank you to the staff - Everyone from the maid service to the front desk and all in between. Thank you to our daughter-in-law for booking this trip for us!

"While I would recommend Secrets St. James, I will not return personally. We are frequent guests to the Cancun area, and in just about every possible way, the Mexico experience exceeds the Jamaica experience. The area that sticks out the most as an issue is with the staff and their attitudes. Some staff members were fantastic and treated us like royalty, while other staff members such as the concierge at the Preferred St. James check in, was rude...that is, she was rude once she discovered that we were not going to fall victim to her sales pitch for the time share club. Perhaps this is some folks' cup of tea, but when I have just flown several hours, I don't want to be met with a high pressure sales pitch. Anyway, the room was fantastic and the food was above and beyond great! Keeping in mind we are talking about all inclusive resorts, this was the best we have ever had! thanks to Secrets for letting us experience your warmth and culture. While we won't be back, we appreciate the efforts!"

Overall I would say that this hotel was excellent. The all inclusive package was absolutely all inclusive and we couldn't have asked for more. We were located in the St. James preferred club and was definitely worth the upgrade. The check in experience (not at the preferred club) was very unorganized and inefficient. We were given room keys for a room that was already booked and when I walked into the room, there was already someone in the room which made us feel very uncomfortable and uneasy. The hotel more than compensated us for this mistake by upgrading us and from that point on nothing else went wrong on this vacation. The food choices at the restaurants were slightly limited however there was always something we found that we enjoyed. The nightly entertainment at the piano bar was fun and the drinks were always flowing and exceptional. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would absolutely return in the future."

"The resort is amazing! The rooms are large enough and cleaned very well each day! The entertainment staff members are all extremely talented kids. The food is great. There is a nice selection of dining places for dinner, but not so many choices for lunch and all places offer similar food at the lunch time. The late night snack options could be improved upon as well (avoid the hot dogs)! There is always plenty of drinks flowing and the pool areas are well staffed. We had an amazing time and will be looking at booking at a Secrets place for our next trip."

"I can't say enough good things about Secrets st.james in Montego Bay! It was amazing. We got treated so well by everyone. It was above by far the best resort we have stayes in. We have been to Jamaica 3 times now and will come back tp secrets st.james. We have made some great friends and can't wait to see them again. The only 1 complaint. I would have is that the restaurants do not have air conditioning in them, except for 1 and that was the Bordeoux, which also didnt stay cool because they left the door open. And bring mosquito spray with deet. Like everywhere, Jamaica also has mosquitoes. It would be crazy to think that you might not get a bite or two, nut the try and do everything to help control the situation. It is a very nice resort and you will enjoy your stay. We will be back."

"This was our first time to Jamaica and we couldn't have picked a better resort. We were upgraded at check in to the Secrets Wild Orchid property. The staff, hotel, rooms and food were all excellent. There were plenty of beach chairs at the pool and at the beach. We loved that you didn't need to make reservations for the restaurants. Definitely check out El Patio and Himitsu! The service and food were incredible."

"This place was AMAZING!!! I honestly do not have a single bad thing to say about this resort or the staff. Some advice I would give to future travelers: Bring small bills!!! Nobody carries change on the island as far as people in the shops, taxi drivers, at the bars, or at the restaurants, or anywhere for that matter. We tip because we like to, but did not feel pressure to AT ALL. Bring lots of bug spray!!! I got eaten alive by mosquitos and these little bugs called 'sand flies'. I should have used it more often, but I'll know next time for sure. The whole resort was extremely clean and well kept. The rooms are huge and the bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Everyone on the resort staff treats you like you are their favorite guest and they always have a smile on their face. The food in the restaurants was FABULOUS. The food from room service, not so much, but it was easy to walk down and get something that I liked from the restaurants. You can't miss the singing hibachi waiter, and you HAVE to visit the bartender at the pool bar. He makes wonderful(strong) drinks. And coming from a bartender's wife, thats saying something. He has a fun personality and your drink never gets low. By far our favorite person we met from the staff. The resort has a free snorkeling trip. Do it! It was really fun and you can go out into the reef. It was beautiful. We didn't do any excursions because well, we didn't want to have any commitments and we just wanted to be able to not have to look at a clock the whole vacation haha. We HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this place and will be back for sure!!! I think next time we will take a day trip to Negril to go to the beaches there because they are a little less rocky. The people who complain about stuff from this resort are crazy!! I have never been on a more perfect vacation."

"We had a great time at Secrets. I had orginally booked at St. James but when we checked in we were 'upgraded' to Wild Orchid. If you are trying to decide which one to book, I would say go with the least expensive. They are both part of the resort and the rooms are the same. Yes, the food and shops are closer to Wild Orchid but we're talking 20 feet.
Overall, we had a great experience. Only a couple of negatives:
1. Mosquitoes! I expected some but they camped out on our bathroom ceiling in large numbers. We had to call to get them to come and spray 3 times over the course of the week. We slept in bug guard after waking up the first night with bites (I would recommend bringing a bug repellent candle or such).
2. Front desk staff were not very friendly. At times I felt like I was bothering them when I needed to ask a question. All other staff members were very friendly. My husband got sick one of the days and I couldn't find ginger ale anywhere on the resort (they mix coke and 7up at the bars). One of the staff members went to the kitchen and got a fresh ginger root and made him a ginger tea. Way beyond what he had to do. We really appreciated that.
The food was okay, nothing to brag about. This didn't bother us because we came for the beach and relaxation. I would highly recommend as soon as you check in go and make reservations for the hibachi grill. We tried to make reservations on Wednesday and was told that the next opening they have is on Saturday (which was the day we were leaving). So we didn't get to sit at the grill but we did enjoy the show from the table at the side. The jerk chicken cart that is out during lunch was the best I've ever had! I ate that everyday for lunch. The drinks were better at some spots than others. I got hooked on the Yellow Bird and Miami Vice.
The beach was awesome! The beach on the St. James side was better. Less rocks (well really no rocks) and a more quiet and relaxing. You do need to get there early if you want to be under an umbrella.
The entertainment each night was good. I really enjoyed their house band. I think it was called Pace Band. The fire thrower guys/gals were good also. I would have loved to participate in the 'Secrets Got Talent' but I didn't know there was an audition that you had to go to earlier that day. Karaoke was fun but not a lot of people participated. The dj at the 'club' on one of the nights was great! I think I dance for 2 or more hours! He played a lot of the 80's and 90's R&B and HipHop.
The spa was the best experience I've had. The staff there were great. We got the 80-minute massage but the hour before the massage was the best part. So relaxing. Make sure you check that out. But I will warn you that the deep tissue massage is a DEEP DEEP tissue massage. You may have to tell them to ease up a little. I was almost in tears (and so was my hubby, lol).
We plan on going back next year and bringing a few couples with us."

"We arrived and a drink was in our hand along with a cool towel for our face & neck before we every got checked in. Staff all over the grounds & restaurants were very friendly and fun. Need to ck out the singing waiter at breakfast along with the 'coffee guy' in the World Cafe. We ate somewhere different every night (6 nights) and all our food was very good. My husband usually is a plain jane sort of guy so when he ate things with the sauces & stuff over it and said it was good...you know it was GOOD! Never ran out of food choices. Jerk chicken guy on the beach was very good. He brings his cart around every day at lunch & is there some evenings as well. Drinks were non stop - anything you wanted. We tipped because we felt like they all did a good job NOT because we were pressured. If you complain here about food or service you are just too damn pickey and need to stay at home! Took a few excursions - ziplining & over to Negril with a private driver. Was well worth it. Seven Mile Beach was very pretty. Rick's was fun and interesting as well. Tried to go snorkling & we were rained out. Overall great experience and would go back again & stay at Secrets."

"Had a very fun trip!! It was everything we expected and then some!! One of the grounds keepers brought a coconut every morning poolside for my wife. Just some of the few things that are so enjoyable! Just remember.. even if it is all-inclusive dont forget tip money. The staff really treats you alot better if you give them something for a service, if not then you may not get the greatest service, but still will. Definitely a trip for anyone that wants to go on a vacation!"

"We just spent 6 nights at this resort and had a wonderful time. We were automatically upgraded to the preferred section and enjoyed being a bit secluded from all the activities when we wanted some quiet, down time. And when we wanted to be in on the action, we just walked over to the other pool and joined in there. The rooms were furnished nicely and were very comfortable. The grounds were well kept and beautiful. I am a huge beach person, so was a bit disappointed with the beach at this resort. The beach is very small and many parts were so rocky that it hurt our feet walking in and out of the water. The food was average at best. Some meals were better than others. The worst meal was at the Mexican restaurant. My advise is to stay away from it! Upon check in, we were 'offered' a tour of the property with the promise of a gift upon completion of the tour. But it actually is a vacation club promotion they are trying to sell you on. We were just trying to get checked in and didn't like the pressure of that. People were wonderful and I really have missed their attitude since I got back to the states. One bit of advise is to ask how long the bus ride would be to any excursions you go on. We were told the bus ride to Dunns River Falls would be anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours, depending on our driver. But in all actuality, it took over 2 hours. Something to consider when planning! But Dunns River Falls is a MUST! Overall, a great experience and loved Jamaica!"

"Just back from 7 day trip to Secrets St James. First time to Jamaica and first all inclusive. Vacation started at the airport when we went to find our booked shuttle to the resort. At the resort we received a free upgrade to the preferred section which was quieter and had a few more amenities. Stayed in the junior ocean suite which was lovely. Beach was nice but can't compare to Florida panhandle. 7 restaurants at the resort and most of the food was good. don't go to El Patio - Mexican. that one was terrible but others good. Breakfast is at the World Cafe and is buffet style. I usually don't like buffet but it works here. Lots of choices - wonderful omlets and fruit. Lunch is at the same place and also buffet. we liked the choices. Lunch hours are limited so it took a day to figure out when to eat. We never needed dinner reservations but we were usually early. Saw longer lines as the evening got later. Recommend the spa but this is extra cost - to me worth it. All the staff were eager to please and did all they could to make it a wonderful vacation. Although tipping was covered in the cost, we still tipped. These folks don't make a lot of money and we felt they deserved it. Need to remember this is island time so took a while for us to slow down and just go with the flow."

Breakfast was always great at the buffet with many choices.the beach was very nice along with the pools. there is no doubt that we will return and would recommend this resort to anyone.."

"Just got back from our vacation and had a very good and relaxing time. First impression overall was good. The resort is very beautiful. Grounds are well-kept, and everything is very clean. We were not pleased upon our arrival that we were aggressively being sold a 'special breakfast' in an attempt to sign us up in a vacation program. We were tired and jet-lagged, so to stop the conversation and go to our room, we filled out the paperwork and later cancelled. It put a damper on our overall mood on the first day. The staff were all very efficient and friendly. We're from Mass., so we're not used to being surrounded by friendly people willing to help us out at every turn. I will say that a few staff members were a little abrasive at times. We just tried to avoid them. The beaches are absolutely beautiful. We spent all of our time there. We booked our trip in the preferred club, and I highly recommend it. It was so much more peaceful and quiet on that side of the resort. Also, the preferred club building has continental breakfast, snacks, and a self-serve bar, along with free wi-fi. I thought it was well worth the little extra money. The food isn't terrible, but it isn't great either. At first, I was perfectly happy with the food, but near the end of the trip (four days), we started to feel a bit ill from it. That being said, they do a really nice job in the restaurants with the menu and presentation. Made the evening meals a very enjoyable experience. We tried the Asian, Italian, and French restaurants. They were all decent. Snacks in the preferred club building were great. There are no shortage of drinks, either! Overall, we had a great, relaxing time -- and this being our first time in an all-inclusive, I would certainly consider going again. "

"So I recently stayed at this resort. The hotel is beautiful and very modern. It was very clean and well kept which is what I really loved about it. The staff overall were nice but there were a few with attitudes or they just seemed a little moody. The rooms and bedding were great and comfortable and definitely met my expectations and beyond. Although I went with my mom and good friend this resort is more of a couples resort though there were some singles and others who came with their mom. The down fall is the food, food was horrible. (if you are a food person you may want to avoid this place). I wish they had more of a feel of Jamaica when it came to the food and better menu options. Everything tasted blah or just bad. Good thing is the drinks are free but if you want good food I would recommend going off of the resort and get a real feel of Jamaican food. It would also be nice if the wifi was free and not $15 a day.
the hotel does not have shuttles but I was lucky enough to meet a nice lady named Blossom who drove us where we needed to go for a cheap price and even gave us a tour or many areas you wouldn't even know about.
Overall clean beach, pools and rooms. I liked it there"

"Awesome place, went for our honeymoon. The food was excellent, service was excellent. Had lots of on site resort options for entertainment, food, bars. Loved every minute of it and was sad that we had to leave. Beds were very comfortable, the resort even had different pillows that could be ordered to suit your comfort level for sleep. The 24 hour room service was awesome. The only thing I didnt like was that we checked out at 530am and it was difficult to track somebody down at that time to assist us with checkout, understandably the resort is very quiet at that time. Plan to pack sunscreen and aloe vera, very expensive to buy at the resort....$15 for SPF 30....seriously pack higher strength! Overall very satisfied, already planning a return trip to secrets!"

"I took this trip with my mom. There were several young couples however, there were plenty of older couples and others visiting. Saw several all girl get togethers and anniversary couples. Not uncomfortable for singles or all girls trip. The hotel is very clean sometimes they over clean during the day power washing sidewalks while guest are at the pool trying to enjoy the music and sometimes fun games. I know some people have reported that ants are a problem and the rooms do have ants but it was not extreme nor did it bother us. The room view was excellent and the room itself was very nice. Beds slept great! The drinks were real if you are worried about that as an all inclusive. You just have to ask by name for the good stuff they have it and no water added. (Be careful)! The restaurants are ok the French restaurant was by far the best followed by the asian grill (make your reservation for seat at cooking table asap. the best cook was very entertaining. Breakfast was nice and had lots of choices. The other restaurants were only ok and we stayed away from the BLue mountain and mexican due to the bad reviews and after talking to others that had made the poor decision of eating there we were glad we did not waste our nights. THe chicken man that walks past the pools is as good as everyone says however not over friendly. The fruit man that comes by I would recommend skipping, he is very unfriendly!!!!!!! Don't touch his fruit or you will be yelled at and told his 3 rules. The lady at the front office is very friendly and helpful. Will know your name and will speak every time you see her. The entertainment crew were also fun and friendly. We hired a driver and went to Negril which was a great experience and planned a trip to dolphin cove and dunns falls. Not so wild about the falls but riding the two dolphins was worth every penny. Our guide for the day, I can't say enough nice about her, she works for Dolphin cove Ocho Rios. Over all had a good time with my mom . Ricks Cafe cliff diving was well worth the drive and the dive was awesome. Our drivers name was Greg that you can hire from the fellow that wears red vest in the middle of the shopping area. They will tell you 200. but you can go for 160.00 if your good at bargaining and it is slow season. Greg was great and felt very safe as he really watched out for us as we visited all around. Have a great time and enjoy!"

"We stayed at the St. James side of Secrets. It is the exact same as the Orhid, so dont pay extra for that. & Do not fall for there 'upgraded room' scam for $100/ per night. The service was fantastic but, the food was average at best. Not happy with the fact that you have to pay $15.00 per day for WiFi and it is a pretty long ride to all the outside excursions. Probably the nicest place in Montego Bay
(clean, great service, and swim up bars). No free shuttles to airport $40 each way. so book a shuttle up front and your tours & save $$$."

"Secrets St. James in Montego Bay is just plain excellent. The place was spotless. It was quiet; we were worried about jet noise since it's only 20 minutes from the airport, but the jets are far enough from the resort that you barely hear them. The place was absolutely serene. The food was very good (make sure you get some of the grilled chicken and ask for extra secret sauce-it's seriously good), the drinks were plentiful and plenty strong (the cocktail waitress comes by you on the beach about every 30 minutes), the views amazing, the bed was so comfortable it was difficult to pry ourselves out of it in the morning, except that right there, outside our door was the tourquise Caribbean beckoning. The staff was so friendly and kind. The spa is excellent and the swedish massages were not to deep, not too light. Make sure to do the sauna and water treatment circuit but watch out for the second 'deep tissue massage' water jet. It is very similar to what I imagine standing directly in front of a fire hose on full blast would feel like. Not fun, not pleasurable, not something I'd recommend. rn We've stayed at Sandals and this was everybit as good (except for the snorkling). We ordered room service for breakfast every day and one time for a late nite snack. They arrived with hot food in 20 minutes, although they told us it would be half an hour to 45 minutes. The room service menu is pretty good, but the service was excellent. rnOnly a couple of small dissatisfyers. 1 DO NOT get the hotel shampoo in your eyes, It smells great, it makes your hair squeeky clean, but man if it gets in your eyes you'll swear you're going blind. You don't of course, but you feel like you might. I think it may contain battery acid (just kidding, but you get the point)rn2 The free guided snorkeling was not great. Try to keep up with the guide on the way out (I bet you can't), and then let him swim back alone. He swam so fast it was like drive by snorkling. They have kayakers out there to herd you in and keep you from the shallows, so linger a little. We saw blue neons (I LOVE them) and lots of brain coral, but there was no time to see anything else. The guide picked up a sea cucumber, handed it off, yelled sea cucumber and swam away! He then picked up a sea anemone and yelled female anenome; I was fool enough to take it and there was, treading water with a sea anenome sticking to my hand. By the time I handed it off to someone else the guide was long gone. We didn't try the $35 per person boat snorkling, mostly because we didn't want to waste time riding in a boat to the reef when there was a reef 150 yards off the shore of the resort. In retrospect, we're really glad we didn't pay for the boat ride. The best bet would be to bring your own snorkel equipment.rn3. Bring your own sunscreen. Do not forget to pack it. You'll want SPF 150 (yes, just kidding). The store sells aerosol SPF 30 for $14.50 USD for a small bottle. Don't forget your sunscreen. rnOverall this was one of the best vacation weekends we every had. We plan to go back and stay longer as soon as we have saved the monty. "

"We had a great time. Would give it 4-4.5 stars. For details see below: Weather: May 11-18 Only rained 1-2 days out of the entire trip, the weather was otherwise beautiful in the 80's during the day and 70's at night. Got a few mosquito bites but nothing too bad in terms of insects. Beaches: Some of the most beautiful...you won't be disappointed as they are warm and the water is crystal clear. Some rocks/shells but didn't feel the need to wear swim shoes or anything. Beach activities-snorkel for free with the group or bring your own gear and snorkel any time you want! $20 sailing lessons, although taking the non-motorized boats out is free. Pool: You should be able to find places to lay out...most people get out there by 10-11am. The spots with umbrellas go fast. Service at the pool in terms of drinks is great! Food: Try the jerk chicken with the magic sauce! Best ever :). Overall food quality was just average. We enjoyed the Hibachi place and went twice (requires reservations). The French place was nothing to write home about. The Mexican, Jamaican and Italian places were ok. Room service is usually there within 30 minutes. Sometimes even if you put the privacy light on they still don't use the 'secret box' to deliver food. It seems they prefer to knock an serve you in the room to get a tip. We also did the private dinner on the beach which was very romantic and beautiful (ask for the gazebo)-highly recommended. Tipping: Most people end up tipping a little for lunch, dinner and for drinks. I think they probably expect it now since most people do it. Would bring singles with you as it is hard to find change at the hotel for some reason. Rooms: We had a junior suite, did not splurge for the 'preferred' room although it was offered at the beginning and did not regret it. It didn't seem like we were missing anything by not paying the extra $80/night. Rooms were very nice, bed was comfortable. Girls-can get by without bringing your hairdryer as the one in the room works well with lots of power. Service: We felt this was lacking overall compared to the all inclusive we went to on our honeymoon (Zoetry-Punta Cana). Most of the restaurant staff was not enthusiastic about serving you at all (with the exception of 1-2 people during the entire week...shout out to the Hibachi servers!). People around the resort were hit or miss, 50% were really nice and went out of their way to speak to you. The other 50% made no effort. Entertainment: The resort really shines when it comes to entertainment. We were really impressed by the quality of shows each night. Never really felt bored (only a couple nights when it rained earlier in the day and they moved the show to indoors did the entertainment suffer a bit). The 'Desires' nightclub was ok but tended to only play one kind of music. We never left the resort to find other entertainment, but there was a shuttle bus that would take you to Margaritaville (although it only had one return time-2am). Other guests: Mix of mostly Americans, Canadians. Most were really fun to hang out with and were all there to have a great time. Plenty of 20-30 year olds in wedding parties or on their honeymoon or anniversaries. Overall: We would return again! Definitely did not want to leave at the end of the week and had the best time. My husband and I agreed it was probably our favorite vacation to date."

"We stayed in the Preferred Club Junior Suite. The private entry for check-in was very nice. The preferred club lounge lacked in the variety of food and snacks. The room was amazing. We did have a bit of an infestation problem with mini spiders and ants, which they attempted to fog on two separate occasions, but the spiders did not go away. Our maid was fabulous and left towels in the shape of swans hearts on the bed. The staff were the nicest people you could ever meet. We did tip everyone that provided a service to us. This is the right thing to do being that they are only paid enough to survive, and are extremely grateful. The beach is fabulous!!! We fell asleep two times while listening to the waves and the water is so warm!! We definitely would return!!"

"The resort was beautiful, the service was great; however, my husband and I didn't like the fact that for dinner we had to go to the restaurants, wait to be seated and get a menu with limited items. I can do that at home. We prefer a buffet that has lots to offer as far as menu choices with NO WAITING!!"

"RESORT - 5 STARS. Clean, well-tended. Beautiful pool and beaches. No litter anywhere. Beautiful grounds. Fabulous sunsets. CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT - 5 STARS. Fast, courteous and efficient. (Note: Sure, we were approached about taking a tour of the preferred, upgraded property, and to join their Unlimited Vacation plan. If you agreed to the tour, you got certain incentives. But I did not consider it high pressure, and not a hassle to just say 'Not interested'. We have experienced much more intense time-share offers at other resorts). ROOMS- 5 STARS. Clean, comfortable and luxurious. Marble bathrooms with deep, soaking, jetted tub - rainfall shower head, etc. Spacious balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. Our Junior suite looked just like the picture on the website. FOOD - 5 STARS. Great variety - Italian, French, Asian, Jamaican, Mexican, Seafood, etc. Unlike most all-inclusives, not buffets, but cooked to order. Excellent quality. A real, pleasant surprise, considering the horror stories you hear about the quality of the food at some all-inclusives. Excellent breakfast buffet. DRINKS - 5 STAR. Any time - all day and night. Beer, wine and cocktails. And not just cheap-brand liquors - I was drinking top-shelf Grey Goose vodka almost all week. ACTIVITIES - 5 STARS. Lots of beach activities during the day. Hobie cats, kayaks, snorkeling, etc. Entertainment every night. Great house band - Pace - playing reggae and dance music every night. Also some excellent outside entertainment. Particularly liked the Steel Band and Jamaican singer. STAFF - 5 STARS. Exceptional service from every staff member we encountered. All staff were sincerely warm and friendly, greeting you with a smile. We tremendously enjoyed the Jamaican people. Staff could not do enough for you. Management should be congratulated for doing a superb job of screening their personnel. Would we go back? In a heartbeat."

"It was a wonderful experience overall, but some incidents here and there happened which is making me write this kind of review. 1) I requested ocean side view room but when we arrived they checked us in a room on second floor.Further to add to our woes there was a huge palm tree to obstruct our view. When asked to change our room they gave us a flat answer that they cannot because of unavailability of rooms on 5th floor. So after two days they checked us on 4th floor. But the personals on front desk were very uncooperative about the whole issue. It was definately an awkward situation for us than. Room on 4th floor was not good also. Toilet flush was not working properly , shower in the bathroom was not working. And we didn't want to do or say or argue any more hence stayed on. Other than that restaurants are very good. Staff are well mannered. Activities around in the resort are good."

"We went to Jamaica for our 4th Anniversary. It was our first time in Jamaica and staying at Secret St. James in Montego Bay made it more special. The resort is clean, nice and modern. The staff was also very nice and courteous. We would recommend this resort to our friends and we would like to return soon."

"We went to this resort last year in July. It was one of the best trips we have ever been on. The staff was excellent. We were treated like a King and Queen. This is a resort we will surely return to this year and many years to come. This year we will be bringing another couple, because we where treated so well...........

"This was our first trip to Jamaica and we LOVED it! We are planning our trip again for December 26 thru the New Year. The staff at St James were excellent! Our Concerige took care of everything even when she was not at work. The Guest Services Manager actually is a minister and my finance' an I had a 'promise ceremony' at our Romantic Dinner. He an I have both lost our spouses so this vacation was a much needed trip...I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESORT!"

The food at all the restaurants was delicious and we enjoyed trying a different type of food each night with all the choices available. The staff helped us feel very welcomed and were friendly and happy. Our stay was wonderful, and we'd recommend Secrets St. James!"

"Nice place, very clean and pretty good attention from staff.Don't book any tours through the hotel as they tell you one thing and you receive another thing. When questioned on it, they don't ever answer the questions. That is the only issue we found with the place. Can be a great holiday."

"There is nothing bad to say about Secret's St. James. Our week long Anniversary couldn't have been better. I have stayed at many all inclusive resorts throughout the Caribbean and Mexico and by FAR Secret's Resorts out shine them all. The food was amazing, our favorites was Portinfino, but the quality at all the restaurants, as well as room service was exceptional. The Jerk Chicken cart is a MUST! We thoroughly enjoyed the nightly entertainment, and the piano bar. The Circus is a must see.
I want to personally give a shout out to the staff at the Mantee pool bar. They provided exceptional customer service and made killer drinks! Drink a suicide! She is the only one that knows the recipe, but they are fabulous. (and STRONG) All of the alcohol was brand name's and you could even get Crown Royal in the lobby bar. There are not many all inclusive resorts that offer high quality alcohol.
The beaches were gorgeous and well kept. I was highly impressed. I am very spoiled with my beaches so was worried I would be disappointed, but absolutely wasn't! All of the grounds were clean and well kept. Our room was perfect. We did not upgrade to Preferred Club, as I have stayed in Preferred Club at Secrets Capri and found there wasn't much difference in the rooms, or offerings. I don't recommend upgrading. Our room was clean and beds were turned down daily. We had a great view of the Ocean, I recommend asking for the upper level rooms, floors 3-5 are the best. All in all in was a great trip and I definitely will be returning to Secrets St. James. I plan on visitng their other locations as well. Cabo, Huatulco, Punta Cana and Mexico! Thank you Secret's for an amazing Anniversay!"

"Secrets St. James was absolutely perfect! I have traveled to many different Caribbean destinations as well as Mexico, and this by far was my FAVORITE all inclusvie resort I've ever visited. The resort was beautiful, the beach and water was exquisite. I was very impressed by how friendly and helpful the staff was as well. They made the vacation even more enjoyable. I would like to say thank you to the watersports staff and entertainment team! You were all wonderful. Staff at the Manatees bar were exceptional. It was great to have staff that remembered you daily. We never even had to ask for cocktails, they knew exactly what we wanted when we came to the bar. The rooms were clean and kept up daily. I couldn't say one bad thing about the restaurants and food quality. As I stated previously, I've traveled and stayed at many all inclusive resorts, but the food at Secrets resorts stand out! I have visity 3 of their resorts now, and plan on visiting Secrets in Cabo next! Thank you all for a wonderul and un-forgettable Anniversay. I highly recommend Secrets to friends, and family or anyone who would love a relaxing, luxurious vacation."

"So we just got back from Secrets St James we stayed in the Preferred Club for 10 Days, it was awesome. The experience there was great. The service was EXCELLENT. The beach was awesome too. Our waitress on the beach she is great. Postive attitudes all the way around. The woman who works at Sea side Grill is the best Waitess there. That is far the best restaurant there is, the Chef here is the bomb, makes the best food . The steaks and shrimp and Lobster was excellent. Don't eat at the Blue Mountain service is horrible. World Cafe has a aesome breakfast, but we had the best room service for Breakfast to.
The turn down service was excellent. Make sure you tip.. I didn't feel like I had to but they did such a great job on everything, from making sure we had the best of everything. Make sure you visit the Spa that is Excellent to. Bring plenty of sunblock you will get burned. There gift shop is pretty pricey. The coffee shop is great to. There drinks are very strong, so beware . LOL! The weather was perfect... Couldn't ask for anything better.
The entertainment there was great I took A cooking class on thurs, try to do that its by the Barefoot grill. That was fun. Everything there is a great ecape from Lifes hectic ways. I hope this review is helpful... Would go back again...The Staff made us feel very welcome.

We never would have imagine that Jamaica would TOP the experience. The staff is pleasant and there is a sense of relaxation that we have never experience before. They drink, dance and make sure that the time you are there is an experience of a life time. the food was great(especially the Japanese and french restaurant.) the drinks awesome. MY country has a lot to learn from this place THE BEST SO FAR. First review ever but I couldn't resist my self. YA MAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO PROBLEM"

"Very nice in most respects. Beach, service, food, grounds, pools, rooms, staff all very good. Everything was as good as shown online/brochures. Lots of attention paid to details. A couple of issues that need to be addressed. Steakhouse at St James had very slow service and skimpy meals. It was not the same as the rest of the restaurants which were fantastic. Secondly, there was a bus transportation to town. It was supposed to take you to town ($33.00/ couple return) and let you do YOUR thing. Instead it had a tour guide who took you to her favorite places to shop, which in turn, she told the cashiers what to charge us. We were suppose to get this great deal. We pd as much if we bought things at the resort. This tour guide was getting a kickback on everything. Many people on our bus were upset when they found out what had happened. So beware!!!!. I complained to the hotel staff and was told to email a complaint. I did and have not heard back from them as yet, which was over 3 weeks ago. If they get these few issues fix, it is a wonderful place. Also, skip the time share which they tell you it isn't. Not worth it."

"Exquisite! 'Unlimited Luxury' - they certainly live up to their tag line! Have been to a lot of resorts in Jamaica and elsewhere and my husband and I have finally found everything we've been looking for in an all inclusive. Never once felt like we were being herded thru a cattle chute for meals. All staff were more than friendly. By the end of our stay there were several staff members that we had to hug goodbye and thank them for making our stay with them nothing but delightful. Just enough luxury, tho not pretentious. Property was nicely spread out so you never felt crowded, but it was never a 'hike' to get to restaurants and entertainment. Restaurants were outstanding. Pretty much, your wish is their command and they do it with sincere pleasure. We were so impressed, we joined the Unlimited Vacation Club. This is how we want to vacation in the future, always."

"we did not like being hassled about upgrading or taking a tour. We were there to relax and felt pressured to take tour. One of our friends called the front desk and it was 3 minutes before they actually opened and she was told to call back. We had a waitress on the beach that was not too friendly and she was slow."

"It was amazing! Loved it. I don't know how they keep everything so clean! You can walk barefoot anywhere and not see any glass garbage or even bugs. Great place food was great lots of places to choose from. Great rooms. Great staff! Loved it we almost stayed another day just because we didn't get to do everything. Wed is the day they bring in a craft market with lots of great stuff. You can bargain with them. Bring lots of ones and fives. Men bring dress shirts( w sleeves) and slacks and close toed shoes. Some restaunts have dress codes. Min wage is about 50/week and avrg. Rent on a 2 bdrm is 280/month so tip even tho gratts are included we tipped one to two dollars. Tips are appreciated but not expected. Id defenatly go again. Sunset was run down and sandals was even looking shabby by comparasent. We got a sneak peek while picking other ppl for excursions."

"From the moment we arrived, our service was exceptional. When booking our trip, we had requested an oceanview room at the Secrets St. James Resort. However, when we arrived, we had a room on the first floor that overlooked one of the smaller pools and you could see the water if you really looked. I got on the phone and called the front desk and kindly explained to them that the room wasn't what I had expected and within minutes, my husband and I were on the 5th floor of the Secrets Wild Orchid with the best view ever. We will defiinately return!"

"We had an overall great experience with Secrets St. James Resort. We were there on our honeymoon! The staff were very friendly. The rooms were very nice and clean! We stayed 5 nights and didn't leave the resort because there was plenty to do and we enjoyed just relaxing on the beautiful beach. We did the couples massage at the spa and it was awesome. With all massages they offer free hydrotherapy circuit, this makes the spa a great value.!!! We recommend that the spa is a must!!! The only negative is the wifi is not free unless you stay as a preferred guest. We both would definitely return back to Secrets....

"I am not a person that gives all excellents unless it is deserved. This resort deserves it! The room, the people, the quality, cleanliness, and the friendliness was 'Excellent'. The drinks were different and I will explain, I was smoking my cigar and asked for a cognac 'chilled' when I received the cognac it had a head on it which did not leave. I had never seen this and when questioned about the head, the waitress stated politely, it was shakened. What can I say, everything was free and the alternative was to get a Martini. Lol. Other than that, I would go back over and over again. Relaxing, calming, and extrodinary."

"This trip was AMAZING!!! Top notch super friendly staff- tipping is NOT required! Everyone was so calm, friendly, helpful. We truly felt like royalty. We choose the 'preferred' upgrade and were glad we did. It seemed that the preferred areas were a bit quieter.
The spa is amazing but I still a bit baffled by the coupons, you can use it all unless you go more than once.
The food was tasty. Don't miss the jerk chicken on the beach. By far my favorite meal of our stay.
The activities were fun- I won the catwalk competition and a bottle of rum! Be sure to ask for whatever you need, be it advice on where to go to get the local music, a drink recommendation, or where to get the best deals. Anything you need at all is 'No problem, Welcome home!'"

We got there and we were suppose to stay at the Secrets St. James but the room they had was not ready , sooo what did they do?????? Gave us a room on top floor with a view to die for in Secrets Wild Orchid, which they are both connected. This place went out of it's way to take care of us. The room was outstanding and the service couldn't be matched. As for the pool and the bars,,, Again WOW!!!!!!!! Room service??? 24 - 7 and outstanding.."
