"We just stayed at Grand Palladium Jamaica April 22-28 and we had a great time. We were there to attend a wedding so GP was where we were going no matter what but I did get a little worried after reading some of the reviews. I have to say our room and the service we received from all employees was excellent. We arrived late in the evening and I was already prepared to deal with a limited check-in staff but that was not the case, we were greeted by group of friendly bell hops and check-in agent who had all our info ready to go and they even had me set up for the building/room type I had requested by email a week earlier (building 11, king bed suite with ocean view). I was fine with the pillows but they do offer other options for a fee. Our room was cleaned fully everyday, towels replaced daily, drinks in the fridge restocked daily, the drink guy would always give extra when I asked (if I wasn't already laying out by the pool). I don't remember her name but we did see our cleaning lady almost daily either in our room or other rooms in the villa and she was as nice as could be and did a great job with our room.
I'm usually a beach person at these types of resorts but the main pool at the Grand Palladium was amazing and it was our main hangout spot most days but we did venture over to the beaches a few times especially to do some kayaking. The beaches closer to the main pool are rocky but sunset cove beach was nicer for going in the water without any shoes/sandals and the jerk chicken hut is located at sunset cove beach along with all the water sports/boats. The main pool has three bars so you're covered for drinks in and out of the water and the POP team has activities going on around the main pool area all day long, dancing lessons, volley ball, aerobics classes, drinking games, trivia contests, etc. All the pools and beaches have more than enough lounge chairs so it's never an issue to find a spot.
For lunch and dinner we always ate at the buffets (3 buffets) or lunch at the jerk hut if we were in that area. For an all inclusive I have to say the buffet food for breakfast and lunch was very good (never tried buffet for dinner). One day for lunch I had fried whole red snapper, really good. For dinner we tried the Asian, Jamaican, Mexican, sea food and steak house, all were excellent and we made the effort to get to the restaurants by 6pm every night so never had to wait. I know if we go later it's a long wait as there was usually a large crowd waiting when we were leaving each night. For late night food the sports bar is open all night and they have a cook there making burgers, fries and other sandwiches on the late night menu, just what's needed after a long night of drinking and partying.
Every night we spent time at the main infinity bar which always had a lot of people hanging out in that area and most nights we even made it to the dance club which was not bad when I compared to 'clubs' at other all inclusive resorts. I also have to mention Miss Lou's which was just to the side of the infinity bar, they're open during the day and into the night and they serve all the espresso type drinks you would want along with a more top shelf bar selection and a nice selection of desserts and small snack sandwiches, nice place to grab and go or just hang out in the AC if the open air bar gets too hot.
I do want to say I tip, I bring a lot of $1 bills and that's all I carry around in my pockets at the resort. I tip our maid a few dollars a day and food servers and bar tenders, it may or may not help get better service but these people work hard to make sure we have a good time and I want to acknowledge them for the effort. Even without tipping all the staff we dealt with were always very friendly and many went out of their way to ask how our vacation was going and if we were enjoying the resort. This was my 3rd trip to Jamaica and I had a great time at the Grand Palladium, I would recommend to others and I would consider returning in the future.
FYI- I also posted this review in Trip Advisor"

"resort is beautiful but service is mediocre at best the front desk staff is the worst- they are not at all helpful. Very difficult to eat dinner they don't take reservations and always an hour or more wait for our group of 7 people. Resort is very large and inefficient- sofa bed for kids was uncomfortable- refrigerator not working very well on last nite our A/C was not sufficiently cooling our room. Food served cold at some restaurants. It seems there was no one in charge. Very difficult to get pool towels at 9am already out of them. Some servers at Raggaetoni extremely friendly and efficient andthe bartender at Poseidon restaurant very entertaining and the supervisor at restaurant was attentive- t. They ran out of vanilla ice cream and lemon/limes were non existent. Cheap liquor used in all drinks- a disappointment"

"Our family of four just returned from the Grand Palladium two days ago, and we are all ready to go back! We had a terrific vacation there (our first trip to Jamaica) and would have liked to stay longer. We had no issues locating our pre-paid shuttle to the resort, and it left the airport in a timely fashion. Our driver was very lively and entertaining, and the 40 minute drive felt like 10. We arrived about 1:00, and our room was not yet available, which we expected. We went and had a nice lunch in one of the buffet rooms, wandered a bit, and came back at 3:00 to find the room ready. The drove us and our luggage to the room and carried it in for us- all very polite. We immediately jumped into our swim attire, and were delighted to find a secluded cove with four free chairs (this was actually one of the things we liked best about the resort- each day we were able to find a different private cove to relax in- awesome!). The only caveat is that the coves do seem to have an abundance of sea urchins lurking in the shallows- my son found this out the hard way within the first two minutes on the beach. They really should have a warning sign, or at least say something at check in. This unfortunate incident did have a silver lining- two of the staff photographers, Troy and Oneal, heard my son wailing, and came over to help out. They spent several minutes trying to help pull the tiny quills from his feet, and gave suggestions to ease the pain- they were very nice and helpful, and later in the trip we sought them out to get some beautiful family photos taken. We had no further urchin issues after that, and thoroughly enjoyed the water sports available. The only negatives I would site were the restaurant wait times, and the ultimate quality of the food. We waited over an hour each night to get into the ala carte restaurants, because we didn't want to have buffet every meal of the day. This wasn't terrible, however a reservation system would have been helpful. The food at the Italian restaurant was our favorite, largely enhanced by the al fresco dining experience. The room was satisfactory for our needs, although not as fancy as depicted in the advertising. The air conditioning wasn't great, but worked okay as long as you left one of the room keys in the electrical slot all the time. Overall, we had a great time- the layout is wonderful- lots of space for everyone's taste (ie if you are into the lively pool scene, it was huge and a place to party, but if you wanted seclusion, it was easily found). We would definitely recommend it to a friend (and have!), and would return here, or perhaps try another Jamaican resort too. Nice to be able to go somewhere so tropical and beautiful, and still have English as the native language. :)"

"Originally my girlfriends and I were headed to the Bahamas. With the way the airline was set up for us to use our ticket voucher for that trip wasn't possible. I was very pleased about the trip that we replaced it with. Jamaica Mon!! I can't express how beautiful the Palladium was. I don't even know where to start. The Food was out of this world. They have so many different places to choose from as far as sit down dinners as well as buffets. The staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome. We got along great with the bartenders. Not to name any names but they know who they are. Always kept us laughing. The Palladium also offered shuttle service that ran around the clock to take you to any part of the resort that you wanted to go. Since this initial trip I have been back two other times. The people do work hard there so don't be stingy, give a couple dollars here and there. I just got back Friday and am on here now booking my next trip back. Hope you have as much fun as we did!!!"

"Our trip started with much promise and expectation and degraded by the day.
All 4 of us became violently ill, probably due to water - despite assurances the water was 'safe'. NOT. The service was slow in all cases. Staff were friendly but unmotivated. When we needed to make a flight change we were not able to call the airline directly from the room, but had to visit the main lodge and wait for a guest relations person to connect the call - even though we were trying to make credit card call from the room. Room safe didnt work and required 3 calls, including one to manager, before they showed to fix it. Bathroom ceiling leaked from above. No dressers, just a few shelves in closet. Impossibly long lines at theme restaurants, which will not take reservations. Buffet food passable but nothing more. Health spa included one bike and one working elliptical. Beaches were rocky and filled with sea urchins which are extremely painful when stepped upon. Middle of the day, one of our daughters stepped on one - no lifeguard around, no posted warnings. unbelievable.
Most indicative of this hotel's service orientation - on our last booked day, with another daughter violently ill and immobile, the hotel did everything it could to throw us out and only a screaming match with the manager followed by a threat to contact the US Consulate led this hotel to allow us to remain overnight until she was well enough to travel - as if we wanted to stay a minute longer than was necessary.
Of a 6 day vacation we had a day and a half of usable time.
Beware!"

"My fiance' and I stayed here for 4 days two weeks ago. We had a great experience! This was our first time in Jamaica, the resort is so beautiful. We booked the 1 bedroom suite it was very large. We read some other reviews before going so we didn't know what to expect with some negative feedback but our stay was great. The food and drinks were good. They had a good variety of food and desserts. Ourt air conditioner in our room stayed on and it worked really well. The beach was rocky and wasn't that great but we knew that before we went. The infiniti pool was amazing and huge. The staff was freindly and our house keeper was so nice and trustworthy. We left her tips and she did not take them because she wasn't sure if they were for her or not since we didnt leave a note or put it under her name card. That's what she told us. After that we left it under her name card and gave her extra. Our entire suite was cleaned daily, the mini bar was stocked daily, and we had fresh towels and wash clothes. We had the best time ever and will definately be returning and will recommend to family and friends!"

"This was an excellent resort! Our family ( including our 12 and 11 year olds ) had a perfect vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed the massive pool and the well shaded lounge chair areas surrounding the pool. It provided some excellent shade when we needed it! We also enjoyed the sports area, where we played tennis, basketball, and soccer. It was illuminated so it was possible to play at night when it was a little cooler! We also spent some time on the beaches. It was beautiful! Our room was also great. We were lucky to have 2 double beds, and a pull-out sofa. Food was excellent! We favored Bubba's Steak House! We also thoroughly enjoyed the Mexican restaurant, and the Asian restaurant. The buffet restaurant overlooking the pool and ocean, was a perfect setting to start your day!"

"I was staying at the Grand Bahia Principe,we moved to the Gran Palladium because they got mixed up with our room, so we wanted to try that hotel, it is very nice, classy, and very clean, the staff at the reception is very poor, not smiling , and if you wnat to go to the restaurant the food is not good, the food at the Gran Bahia is better. if you want to go there make sure you booked your restaurant in advance when you arrive, and do not go to that restaurant ( Poseidon's sunset cove) people waited so long to get serve and when finally you get it is no good) atthat hotel I prefer the buffet but the waitress not good...they need to be smiling more....A MUST TO GO VISIT...Dunn's river Falls..beautifull, and take a trip to the negrils a beach who is 7 miles long and finish at rick's cafe for the beautifull sunset of Jmaica....."

"I have to say I am a seasoned traveller to Jamaica and have stayed all over, BUT nothing has compared to this place it was amaaaazing beautiful beyond belief, I was blown away completely and boy do they look after you, the staff are fantastic, friendly and cant do enough to assist you.
The complex if huuuuge, but dont wory they have these carts which you can ring for and they will pick you up and take you where you want to go, its a must for all big hotels good one, but if you want to get fit walk the gorunds are lovely.
There isn't much of a sandy sandy beach but if you dine at the Jerk Hut, and get the cart to take you as its located up the Lady Hamilton end they have a beautiful beach up there.
If you like all inclusive you'll love this they actually have variety in their menu and it does change, I spent 8 days with 4 adults and 2 children under 8 years old and they loved it, the kids clubs are good and enjoyable, the sports bar is an excellent idea and you can eat and drink there until late and the kids loved it, I would say staff need to keep an eye on the chalk and cues for the pool table and the football table games.
We stayed from the 23/10/12 - 31/10/12 and it was the greatest, booking for next year for sure great place you will love it promise."

"My fiance and I stayed here for two weeks in October. Our experience was fantastic, fun-filled every day, and relaxing at night!! This is Jamaicas largest resort, with plenty of walking, many pools located throughout the resort and 3 private beaches. Tip: You can call the bell boy to pick you and take you where ever you want to go any time of day/night.
The food was fabulous in the buffet with a wide variety of dishes to choose from and every night was a different selection of country/food (Chinese/Asian, Mexican, Jamaican, French, American etc. I enjoyed the pasta as it was made to order, but I tried every thing, curried chicken is better than my own (haha) and the sushi was excellent with an amazing wasabi. Also we dined at the Italian, Mexican, and Creole a la carte Restaurants. They were quite easy to get into (men must wear pants for dinner), with zero line ups, although we arrived early at 5:30-6 o'clock in the evening. The drinks were non-stop and delicious, daquiries and pina colodas were my fave and of course Jamaicas own Red Stripe beer was my fiance's fave. Buy a travel mug/tumbler with lid as its a lot easier.
The staff were very pleasant, helpful, courteous and fun to get to know. Very warm, loving and happy people. They work very hard and always smiling and laughing with each other. It was so wonderful we were very happy to tip extra. And the security was very nice, especially at night, It eased my mind and was comforting.
The excursions we took were at the Negril beach (seven mile beach is so beautiful and breath taking, and hot, we had the pleasant site of a sting ray swim by), Ricks Cafe, Bob Marley (nine mile) and Dunns River Falls, with many shopping trips throughout. Look for deals and dont be afraid to bargain while you shop. And please pamper yourself at the spa, it was so relaxing and calming with private pools to enjoy. The staff here were exceptional.
Our hotel room was a one bedroom suite with seperate living area on the bottom floor, two televisions, working air conditioner, Ipod, plenty of towels, and room was very clean. Tip: Place a door card saying the time you would like your room cleaned every day, excample 10 am. It will be cleaned at this exact time, every day.
We enjoyed our stay here, and we have booked another vacation for two weeks in February. We will definately come back. Thank you Grand Palladium."

"We arrived at the resort with high expectation. Well..what a pleasure ride! We stayed for 7 days in October 2012. From the minute we arrived here the look and vibe was telling us it was going to be pleasant, but it became more and more pleasant which turned eventually into 'we don't want to leave'! The resort itself is HUUUGE! A mini town with everything at your disposal..food, shops, laundry service, entertainment e.t.c.The staff friendly and accomodating, groundsmen keeping the resort in full prime, even giving us jelly coconuts to drink/eat at times. Entertainment at night could do with a boost but not all bad otherwise. The rooms were clean and well taken care of when we were out. Many restaurants to choose from, but the Jamaica restaurant was the main eating place for us..food..food..loads of food! for every taste..breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Come dine with me.? not here mate! Everything prepared for you and the food tasted delicious everytime. The gym and spa is ok but the steam room OUCH! needs to be fixed, plenty of swimming pools and bars and beautiful weather, you don't want to leave this place, sadness on our last day but HEY! would definately return all being well. I think this resort is rated 4 stars, but very near 5! Enjoy.."

"My wife and I went to this resort for our anniversary in July, and overall I must say we enjoyed ourself. The shows were very entertaining, the club played good music almost every night except for one, the substitute for the regular DJ was bad!! The after hours spot was nice, we ate ice cream, listened to more music, you can also play pool etc. That was good, the food was excellent in the Italian restaurant the beautiful 'Sunshine' took good care of us, and Bubba's Steakhouse was also excellent. Now what made the trip extra special was the tour we took. Besides it being very hot, and the resort not having US type cold AC in the room, along with the power going out alot in the morning time, I really had a good time. Actually looking forward to going back to Jamaica."

"I have to say my husband and I absolutely loved this resort. From the moment we arrived and were given a warm welcome by the staff with drinks until the day we left the staff was very friendly and knew how to take care of us. There was so much to do...we went to the beach, went on the pedal boats, ate and drank all day... This was exactly everything we were looking for. We did have to walk quite a bit to our room everyday, but we were perfectly ok with that! We made friends with some of the staff especially with one of the waitresses. She was our first waitress there the day we arrived and she welcomed us with open arms. After that day when we saw her, her first question was hows everything? The food at the restaurants and buffets was great! Will definitely be returning and recommending to family and friends!"

"I recently stayed at the Grand Palladium over Xmas vacation. I've got to be honest at first everything was great! The people were friendly the resort was clean and the weather couldn't have been any better. After arriving back home to the states I was going over my spending on my online banking acct and noticed charges that I didn't make. Long story short somewhere, someone made a carbon copy of my credit card and went on a very large shopping spree... over 2 thousand dollars worth. Very upset because before i found this out I was ready to book my next trip. I don't think I will ever be back to Jamaica after that experience."

"My Husband and I went to Grand Palladium Jamaica on vacation June 13, - 16. Overall the trip was good but expectations were not met. A/C didnt work, stocked mini bar consisted of 2 beer 2 sodas and 2 waters, The resort was spaced out and if you don't like to walk please don't choose this resort because you will have to walk to restaurants, pools, beaches, bars etc. Activities and shows were ok. Food was standard but plentiful. We met some great people and exploring Jamaica was great. Would not return to this particular resort."
