"Just returned last weekend. Had a fantastic time. The place was built just 2 years ago and is spotless and well manicured. Always people working to keep it clean. The beach was spectacular as well. They are not kidding about the 700 yards long and the water was over 80 deg I think. A really beautiful place. I read all the reviews from this site and trip advisor and took the advise of upgrading to the Preferred club. We booked Prefrerred Ocean view which also had a view of the pool. Again the grounds and the view were terrific. Not too much noise but a few wedding receptions in the court yard in the evenings. Just drowned them out with the great preferred club Rum selection.
Met lots of fun and friendly people and many newly weds. Very easy to talk to patrons and language barrier was not bad. Many staff spoke great english and those who didn't tried very hard. GREAT STAFF.
Transportation was comfy The the rep was on hand at the bus and gave us each a bottle of water and a nice head's up breifing about the facility and the time share sales pitches...which many other customers did not get. Our VIP travel guy was punctual and cordial and again did a great job presenting us with items around the grounds and available excursions and what things to be wary of. We never felt unsafe in the resort. The restaurants were nicely appointed and very clean. Food was pretty good some was great. Never had a problem finding a seat at any of the pools or the beach and there was plenty of servers walking around to keep you well lubricated.
NOW (no pun intended) for the down sides. The first item the urrked us was the presumed $200 in resort cash that you could spend on wine, romantic dinners, or massages. It is not 'use $200 as you wish'...there are coupons. We were counting on wine and massages but the real deal is you get 2 coupons for $40 off a $140 1 hr massage. I don't care if you get $300 off a $400 massage you are still paying $100 for an hour massage which i think is a bit high and I am not sure of what the quality would have been. All 4 of us heard the wine coupon at $20 off a bottle but they insisted at the restaurant that it was only $10 so the bottle of Mondavi Cab was $69. It was kept in a cellar at a good temp. The house wines are not good. I would stick to the Rum....and coke is the best...can't really screw that up. Start mixing things up and you get a different mix every time. Drank Teq sunrise one day and the colors varied greatly and wound up being very sweet loaded with G-dine. The preferred club bars have a great selection of top shelf Rums and tequilia and they pour great drinks. I-PADS in the lounge for your use and free wireless.
The restaurants were a bit unorganized. Each is closed 2 days a week. They give you a sheet in the evening for the next days' events. ALL restaurant hours are listed...even the ones that are closed so you have to call down to see if the one you want is open. At the American Grill chop house we waited about 5 minutes for someone to come out to seat us, she said give her a minute. As we were standing there a couple walked right through the door so, since she was right there she seated them a-head of us....then another couple walked right in front of us and started asking questions. Just very irritating disorganization, but never had to wait too long for a seat in any. Hostess tried to seat us twice in regular sections of the Buffet instead of the preferred. Second time time stopped her and showed her my key. You get white linen table cloths and knapkins with better silver and service in the preferred section. Very nice. The buffet can be a bit like full contact dining. The steak at the grill was about 1/4 thick and i think he gave me my wifes steak which was cooked differently than my order. Looked like the Hibachi was nice, fun, and popular. We did not eat the hibachi but ate at that restaurant thinking they had sushi since there is a sushi bar in there. The only sushi they had was 3 rolls. Tuna which was albacore 'sorry charlie' tuna, salmon which I think was salmon paste, and crab which was imitation...probably shark. it was as hard as a rock. Sushi not good at all. I guess there was a different sushi bar on the Secrets side and was ok but not great according to people we met.
Nightly entertainment was just OK...they tried I guess. Never went into the Casino even though I love to Gamble. Buddy said you had to pay $20 to sit down but could use a $10 coupon and pay $10, but I did not hear that personally but there were coupons for match play, not free money to use in the Casino. One Roulette table that was not being used much and one Black Jack Table.
No great deal on cigars either. I did not try to purchase off the resort though. We were warned of rolled up bananna leave cigars and 'cubans' were $25. Fuentes' 8-5-8 was $12.
We did the Saona Island cruise. Very nice. LOOOOng walk to the boat. Verrrry long day! 7:45 am to 7:30pm. The ads make it look like you will be on an island with 20 of your closest friends but it it really 200 of your closest friends. Many boats and many people. The facility was nice with bathrooms and huts and palm trees to protect you from the sun and rain if there is any. Was not aware that Montezuma had visited Punta Cana but he may have visited Saona on his way to mexico. The food tasted good but not sure if that was the culprit. Also we took a speed boat out to the island with a stop at the Natural Pool and then rode the catamaran in. Lots of good rum and dancing lots of fun and fun people. You can buy cigars for really cheap at the bus but you just don't know what you are getting.....storage or quality although the natural environment is right for cigars but they still have humidors.
That being said, We would return 'NOW'....that we are better educated."

"I just returned from Now Larimar and I absolutely loved it. I wish that our stay would have been longer or rather that we had requested extra vacation days for this trip. The resort and beach were as beautiful as you see in photos and worth every penny. Everyone was definitely very friendly and willing to help in whatever poss. The only complaint that I had was the late-nite room-service. I waited 1hr 45min for my order, only to get the wrong thing and housekeeping skipped our room one of the days of our stay. Other than that, not bad at all. I would def return, but this time for more days. The spa was so great and the service was amazing. I was treated like royalty."

"Overall, this vacation was a great value for the money.
One critique was that upon our arrival to the resort our room was not ready. We were asked to get lunch while it was being finished, and when we arrived back in the lobby they kept telling us 'a few more minutes...a few more minutes'. We had been traveling all day and all we wanted was to get to our room, put on our bathing suits, and enjoy the afternoon in the sun. The second critique is that when we needed something (one example was the blow dryer was not in the room, as it was supposed to be), it took a very long time for someone to bring it. We had to call 3 times for the blowdryer, for example.
IThe food was average. I'm a big foodie, and by no means was the food 'poor' but it also was nothing to write home about. The buffet was always fresh with a lot of variety, which was nice. The ala carte dinners were average, but fun to get dressed up for and dine at.
Tip: Men must pay attention to the dress code! pants, collared shirts, and no sandals/sneakers! We saw many couples turned away for not abiding by the dress code. Also, try to get to the restaurants early when they open (6pm) so you do not have to wait a long time to get a table! They do not take reservations.
One annoyance was that we were given $200 resort credit when we booked but in reality, this was not just free money. You had to spend money to use the money..... For example, We were given $100 in spa credit but we could only use one coupon at a time ($40, $40, or $20) and they had to be used on a massage only, which the cheapest was approximately $130. That meant that our 'resort credit' just made one massage $90. big whoop! Similarly, there were $10 coupons for wine, which on average was $50/bottle. No need to buy a bottle of wine when you can drink 5 glasses for free with dinner! Overall, the resort credit was a big waste but regardless, I felt that the trip was a great value. Free drinks and free food all week? Can't beat it.
Another tip: specify which alcohol you want. Ask for stolhi, bombay saphire, absolute vodka, whatever you prefer. Otherwise they will make your drinks with the cheap liquor. You can also ask for extra shots of your liquor of choice and add it to the fruity/slushy drinks they make. As others have stated, bring a big mug! That was a lifesaver!
We did not go on any excursions because I have friends/family who have and they thought it was a big waste of time and money. We did not feel like we missed out because we did not partake in any excursions. The resort had free kayaks, which were nice to use.
Overall, the atmosphere was fun and entertaining. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The place was clean (housekeeping cleaned the rooms twice each day!) and the resort was kept up very nicely.
We would return again and recommend others!

"We are a couple living in NYC and just returned from Now Larimar Punta Cana 1-8 Feb 2013. We were in NOW Larimar Resort for exactly one week and regretted not booking for at least a week and a half. The value for money is unbeatable, it was way beyond our expectations. The resort is beautiful and tranquil, we loved the landscaping in the gardens. The food was the best part of our stay- the buffet restaurant and the French, Chinese and Japanese Hibatchi were our favorites. We also enjoyed the fresh grilled mahi mahi for lunch by the pool area. We stayed away from American food like hot dogs and burgers. The french restaurant was definitely top - we would have easily paid around $100 for something comparable in NYC, and couldn't believe this was all included! The drinks were nothing special but no complaints whatsoever with the deal we had. Our room was the Tropical garden view on the first floor, but we asked to change after one night due to the noise in the corridor. Our room was changed after two nights, as they had 'full occupancy', but the rest of our stay was very quiet once we changed rooms to a remote section of the resort, just as we wanted. Coming from NY's chaos, we wanted silence and silence we got. The staff was always friendly and very accommodating, and we were impressed with their energy and consistent upbeat attitude since they obviously worked very long hours. We would recommend this place to anyone and would definitely return in the future.
The only drawback was a bit of wind for about half the week. But as long as one is in the sun or moving about, it's all good. Can't recommend this resort and destination enough!"

"We stayed at the NOW Larimar for 5 days, 4 nights in January. When we arrived, we found that our room (and that of the other couple we were traveling with) was at the far end of the property, a good 15 minute walk to the beach. We were offered an upgrade to the Preferred Club section next to the beach for $20 per night. I'm glad we made the change. It made all the difference in the world. Everything else about this resort is wonderful.....food, service, amenities, room. When the battery in the room safe died, someone came out to replace it within 15 minutes. The only complaint I would have is that the wi-fi is too expensive. $4 for 15 minutes? Give me a break! The only other option was $25 for 5 days use. Other than that, we had a great time. The evening shows were entertaining, and we booked a speed boat/snorkeling trip that was a lot of fun."

"My husband and I just returned from Now Larimar Punta Cana Dec 1 2012, we were there for 1 week and were sad that we did not book for longer. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, The resort was beautiful, there is sooo much attention to details. the food was delicious, and so were the drinks. Our room was in the Gardenview section which is in the other hotel that is exactly 4.5 min walk from the main lobby. We debated at first whether or not to ask for a room transfer to the main hotel section but decided against it and we were not disappointed at all. Our room was lovely, extremely good service, the pool over there is lovely, it has a lazy river that winds its way around to meet up with the main pool and swim up bar. there is a lovely buffet and outside seating area . the staff was always friendly and very accommodating and would go out of there way to please us. we enjoyed the short walk to our hotel and there was always a little trolley going back and forth between the hotels that we could hop onto if we chose., We were 4 couples travelling together and all of us agreed that it was a wonderful vacation resort and that we would all recommend it to our family and friends and we would definitely return. "Beautiful grounds, rooms and beach. Great food. Only complaint is having to dish out extra money to upgrade because the garden view room that we booked was way too far from the beach and restaurants. They seemed to be close to the road as you entered the resort while everything else was in further and a pretty good walk. I feel we should have been told this when we booked the trip."

"I surprised my wife by taking her and 9 other people to this resort for her birthday. It was the most memorable time we have had on a trip. The entire staff made her feel special everywhere we went. All the restaurants were good, but Spice was our favorite. The pool and beach are fantastic!!! I would recommend getting as close to both as you can. Overall, this trip was 'excellente' for my family!! We will be back!!!"

"This place was AWESOME!!!! The Food was wonderful, the staff was very friendly and the accommodations were great. This is a great resort with plenty of activities such as waters sports, shows, entertainment for all ages. Or if you prefer to just lounge by the pool or ocean all day, the server's will bring you all the drinks you can take. The hotel was very clean, they had staff cleaning non stop and they checked our room a couple times each day. Room service was great, you can order anything at anytime. Again, the food was way better than I expected. They have several restaurants to choose from, Italian, American, French, Japanese and more....our favorite was the Japanese. During the day they have the Snack Bar by the pool where they grill chicken, burgers, pork chops, fish and more, all you can eat!!! They also have the Buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner.....I recommend the Breakfast Omelets cooked to order....I recommend the Dune Buggy excursion, where you will go to a beautiful beach and a cave for swimming. The hotel is completely safe along with the beaches around the hotel, they have security guards but at no time did we ever feel that we were not safe. Just like where you live, there are places that you do not travel to at night without a guide or someone who knows the area. Overall this hotel was AMAZING.....remember to take everything with you that you may need, toothpaste, Sunscreen! Its very expensive at the resort, we paid $24 for sunscreen, however you can walk down the beach to a nearby shop and bargain with the store owners! I cant stress enough how awesome this place was, we saw many beautiful weddings each day at the hotel and we're considering it for our destination wedding. The country side is beautiful, its amazing to see how they live compared to us....we are very fortunate! This was our first trip to the Dominican and we're considering selling all of our belongings in North Carolina and moving there, we loved it and it sucks to have to leave!!!! We highly recommend the DR and the Now Larimar hotel.......I've seen some bad reviews and I've come to the conclusion that you cant please everyone, and in most cases those are the people that write reviews....I promise you will enjoy your vacation in the DR and at the Now Larimar Hotel.....Hope this helps......"

I was very pleased with the entertainment. Overall I would recommend and definitely visit this resort again."

"We traveled to the DR around the last week of August, right when the hurricane hit the area. The first two days were very windy, but we still managed to have some fun! The area is beautiful, MUCH nicer than anywhere in Mexico. The people are so nice and friendly! The hotel is very modern, clean, and beautifully remodeled. Pay the extra money to be closer to the beach... the rooms at the other end are so far away from everything. The rooms were large and spacious, with a great bathroom! HUGE jacuzzi tub, and large shower. The AC never really cooled off, but you are in the Carribbean. The buffet was great, and the resturants on site are great too. Make a reservation to the japanese one as soon as you get there, we never got in because it was always so busy. Keep your eye out for the 'drink of the day' they are always yummy! The person in the sports bar was our favorite staff member, he made our trip so much more enjoyable! Our only complaint was that there were not enough servers to bring you drinks at the pool... but the pools were beautiful! The beach is right outside your rooms, with sugar fine sand and crystal clear water. Our towels got stolen a few times when we woke up to get chairs at the beach. If you want to sit in a particular area, wake up early and start relaxing! The grill by the beach was amazing, all the food was great. Make sure and do the sting ray/ swim with the sharks excursion. It was AMAZING! Pack light, bring some sunscreen, and get ready to fall in love!"

The staff, food, entertainment and especially the beach was great! The property is very well maintained and clean, with activities going on at all times to keep you busy if you choose to participate. "We Stayed at the NOW Larimar for 10 days starting Sept 17th. We feel our money was very well spent, as the room, view, beach, service and food was all to our expectations or better. There were some very minor hiccups, but they were taken care of with smiles and efficiency. We were VERY pleased with the overall staff effort to make our stay the best it could be. We are a self-sufficient couple so many of the reviews we've read are somewhat ridiculous to us. However, I would agree that the pool and beach bars need to stay open later than 5:00, though on the other hand, there is a Castaways Bar at the beach that was closed during most of our stay due to it being a slow time that would stay open until 10:30 or 11:00 when the resort was 80% filled. We thought the nightly entertainment was fun and entertaining ending around 10:30 and the Dance club stayed cooking up to 2:00 AM. The 24 hr room service was fast and the foods were very good, if not slightly off from what we ordered We had an incredible view of the Ocean from our 4th floor partial ocean viiew room and we felt the room was comfortable and very well cleaned daily. The beds were very firm, yet incredibly supportive with no pressure points, so we slept like babies. I meant to check the brand, but didnt. The one change I would make would be to install frosted glass in the bathroom jacuzzi tub area to separate it from the main living area for more privacy. Though it could be very intimate, it could also leave you wanting for more privacy on occasion. The beach was beautiful and the tiki huts were very nice and easy to attain. The roaming entertainment team offered lots of opportunity for interactive fun and games on the beach and at the pool. We got off the resort several times on guided and self-guided day trips, such as the Dune-Buggy tour(which was fun, but offered way to short stays at very beautiful and SAFE places), and the Saona Island Catamaran Tour with reef snorkeling(needs a bit better snorkel equipment, but was very nice). Overall we had an excellent time and ejoyed our stay immensely. We didnt care for the vacation club sales pitch, but otherwise there was absolutely no reason not to recommend this resort. PS.We would like to offer a very special thanks to Fabio!"

"I just got back from Now Larimar Punta Cana on Sept 23, 2012. First when we arrived we were been told at the front desk that there was a problem with the room we booked. Initially we booked garden view room which was all the way out there and very far from everything in the resort. Then the receptionist stated if we upgraded to another garden view room which costs 35$ more each night per room, we would get a room closer to all facilities. The lobby separate two sets of garden view buildings. If we want to be near the beach and the pools, we have to upgrade to the garden view room behind the lobby, otherwise we would stay at the building where right next to the highway, have to take shuttle bus to get to the main part of resort/beach, and suffer the foul smell from the dead pond facing the building. Long story short, we agreed to upgrade and paid additional $$ to be at the garden view room we initially paid for! About the food, it's beyond horrible. Please don't try those restaurants, they look nice but the food is so bad that I don't even know how to describe. How can they cook something simple so bad?? We ended up eating at the buffet place everynight. I heard review about the Spice therefore I booked my reseravations upon arrival. We were so disappointed. The hibachi table, they overcooked the fried rice, it was hard, my jaw hurts after chewing. The beef, chicken, shrimp were way too salty. The cook first put salt over them then lots of soy sauce. It was beyond bad. It seems like nobody know how to cook a proper meal in this resort. I am very disappointed. The resort itself is beautiful. Very clean and spacious. They have very good night entertainment and some free water activities. There is another thing really throws me off, on the friday that we were there, thousand of locals flowed in and hundreds of early teens/teens occupied everywhere. They were very loud, splashed water over people and very rude. The Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we were not able to go to the pool because there were just way too many people in the pool, well, not just the pool it's everywhere. The pool gets so dirty because the locals just throwed stuffs(cups, straws, etc) to the pool after finished use. I feel like I went to a third world and my vacation mode was destroyed immediately. During the night show, these people were loud during performance. They didn't care that someone was on the stage, performing while sweating. There was no respect for anything. Seriously, the first couple days we felt like in a three/four star resort but after the weekend, i just wanted to come home and relax. I was so stressed over the big and loud crowds everywhere. I then know why they have the preferred club in which you have your own private club pools and etc. However, I have seem these locals went in to the preferred club because they don't care. The staffs were all telling me, it's going to be fine on monday because they all going to be gone. And I didn't even mention anything to them. I do respect at the fact that they came in to relax and enjoy their weekend but maybe they can just be more considerated. Anyway, that concluded my experience at this resort. Punta Cana is so beautiful, I will definitely re-visit but never again at this resort."

"This is the worst trip I have taken to Punta Cana. The resort is best a 4 star at best. This is the second Now resort I have taken and will not stay at another. Melia Caribe Tropical is a better choice that is first class. We have stay there two times and regret staying and wasting money at the Now Larimar from 9/4 to 9/11."

"My husband and I had a horrible experience at this resort. We paid top dollar to get horrible food. Our first day there after check-in we get hounded by an agent trying to convince us to invest money in the resort. Almost like a timeshare. Then because we got there at a later time we wanted to hangout at the pool and get some drinks to find out that all the pools and poolbars closed at 5. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! If you wanted a drink of any kind you had to go to their lounge area. Towels were not replenished, short staffed. I have to really emphasize on THE FOOD SUCKS! We decided to go on a ATV excursion and was promised to get helmets (didn't get it) then we were brought to areas (beach and cave) where the locals go. It felt so unsafe and our tour guide was in on it. We felt like animals waiting to get slaughtered. I agree with the other review, guys were wearing jeans. It didn't feel like a top resort. My husband had nice sandals and didn't get to wear them. Also in the NOW Larimar they claim to have 'Preferred Areas' so people would upgrade their packages don't fall for it. Anyone one can enjoy all the amenities at the lower price because they don't check. If they had music it was horrible, dead atmosphere, and the men there are pigs. They have no respect for the women single or married. Don't go there if you have other options like the RIU I heard was awesome!!!"

"This resort does not qualify for 'Unlimited Luxury'. There is no comparision to its' sister resorts Now Jade & Now Sapphire. The beach is beautiful is not safe by allowing watercraft, parasailing and kayaking in the same close area of swimming where we witnessed near collisions. Drinks and food are inconsistent. BE PREPARED TO WALK GREAT DISTANCES!! Shuttles available but inconsistent. Shuttle in poor condition with broken seats. Rooms outdated, unclean furniture, broken equipment in rooms, hair dryer with bare wires exposed. Main pool was GREEN and cloudy, baby pool yellow/brown the whole time----none of us used it. Pool in smaller complex was blue and well cared for. Too many problems in this place, and people who are unable/unwilling to address these issues without wanting you to charge you an additional fee to move to another room, where you would still have the same issues. Best advice: stay at home or book elsewhere....we are not fussy and have traveled extensively to many AI---this was the worst of all."

"Food was not good, and that is being kind. Only had one good meal our entire trip (Mercure Restaurant). The staff was incredibly slow to help you. They are very friendly, but they are not in any hurry at all. Room service is the worst. Takes them over an hour every time. No liquor in your mini bars. You only get soda and 3 beers. The map they show of the resort is not accurate. The garden view rooms are a 15 minute walk from the beach. They are at least 500 yards away from the rest of the facility."

"For the most part great:
-awesome beach
-clean and pretty pools
-lots of daily activities (vollyball, zumba, silly games, DR cultural activities)
-lots of perks- no reservations at restaurants, unlimited towels, free room service, drink service at the beach for everyone, outdoor beachy restaurant and grill right near the beach, good local souvenir shop a few steps away on the beach
only drawbacks:
-the food was mediocre (some select delicious meals but not enough to win me over consistently)
-mattress was uncomfortable
-you can only eat at the open air restaurant for breakfast if you are in the 'preferred club'"

"The 'Now Larimar'
Rooms were just ok, need to be updated (painted etc..) Beds were hard.
They need to work on their room service. Very slow.
Pool and Activities were great for everybody.
Restaurants, dress code needs to be changed. Men should be able to wear
nice Khaki shorts. We saw someboody go in with holes in their jeans but yet a man could not wear nice khaki's shorts. There were a lot of people not happy
about this issue.
We did have a lot of people in our group sick.

"I have been around long enough to learn and to know the differences in quality of service, offered by various resorts. Let me emphasize that the resort staff was fully dedicated to doing everything possible, to insure a very enjoyable and pleasant stay. This is indicative, by the commitment to excellence, of the employees. I usually don't take the time to write a review, for any of my travel experiences, but in this case, I have made an exception, because I believe this resort merits the effort. I will stay here from now on, every time I go to Punta Cana. I will also check into their other resort properties in the Dominican Republic and anywhere else they might decide to develop and build at. I highly recommend this quality resort to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable and memorable vacation getaway.By the way, any room in the resort is a good room, you cant go wrong in any room !"

"When they say Unlimited Luxury they really mean it. We came back to our room after being on the beach all day to get showered and ready for dinner and our jacuzzi in our room had been filled with bubbles and rose petals and it was still hot!! What an excellent surprise and it made us feel so special, even though we were not members of the preferred club. It does not get much better than that!! Our room was spotless and we always had clean towels. They cleaned our room at least twice a day and sometimes 3 times a day! We stayed for a week and the staff was so overly friendly!! Even the 'Sales People' who were trying to get us to visit the time share were friendly and really good at taking 'No' for an answer. We were only asked the first day and then they remembered us and did not bother us again. There were numerous employees who went above and beyond in their service to us. The grounds were immaculate. The Entertainment staff was a lot of fun and when you participated in games you were paid 'Resort Money' that you could use at an auction to buy things like Rum, Jewelry and Massages. They had Monday night football on a big screen on the beach, complete with a tailgate party (Alcohol and Snacks) We had an incredible week and would definitely return and recommend it to everyone!! What an incredible resort this is. We have been to a lot of different resorts and countries and I would have to say this one is my favorite by far! The Dominican People are so friendly, especially the ones at Now Larimar. Their smiles at every request will light up your days almost as much as the bright Dominican Sun!!!"

"This was a beautiful resort with a wonderful staff! Everyone was quite helpful and gracious, always with a lovely smile. That being said, our bed was like sleeping on a rock....I was miserable with an aching back and sore muscles every day. Every room (and we tried three) had a musty mildew smell. The biggest disappointment was the food. We tried every restaurant and were never very pleased. Food on the buffet was never hot enough, which concerned me. I tried to stick to foods I felt would be safe.
This was our first 'all-inclusive' , so I don't know if it is typical. I certainly hope not!"

"Larimar was recommended by a friend who is a professional traveller (airline captain), and as a VERY frequent traveller myself I was pleasantly surprised. Overall I found the value to be excellent - while not '5 star' I wasn't expecting that either. the construction practices in DR are not what you'll find in the USA, but the facility is fairly well maintained and it shows with continual maintenance (these are the folks I like to speak with... if they are happy with the company your going to have a great experience). I was also lucky enough to 'run into' the new GM while having a cocktail and invited him to dinner with my wife and I (and yes - the service was off the carts that evening).
I have to admit that the continual barrage of solicitation by the vacation club salespeople was my only real complaint, and why I can only offer 4/5 in experience and quality... (these guys are setup to annoy the daylights out of you at every meal and whenever you try to get to 'preferred' amenities). Food is very good, although consistency can be hit-or-miss... overall excellent food for the week. Drinks are top shelf and never ending."

"beautiful grounds, staff is great. Food is less than stellar, and as for the preferred club 'butler'???never saw one! preferred club does allow you two private pools, and larger rooms, with larger balconies...other than that, saw NO difference in paying the higher price. Some top shelf liquors, but not alot. no decent beer and the house wine was awful! had to buy the upgraded bottles, which were severely inflated price-wise. However, beautiful grounds, and staff, pools are great, ocean is full of seaweed, and not clear. (of course, no fault to the hotel....and they had people cleaning it up every morning. but I love the ocean, and only went in once. I stayed by the pools."

"Now Larimar is a beautiful resort. The site is very clean and all the staff is wonderful. They are very responsive to your needs and go beyond to get you what you need. The food is very good, but I did not enjoy the Italian restrauant. The rooms are nice and clean but make sure you keep the AC on a little because the condensation will make the floor slippery."

"Awesome trip. We went for the master suite in the club which was awesome. Seconds after being delivered to our room...our butler arrived. Yes I said it...butler. Alejandro who I really wanted to take home with me. He offered to unpack for us and basically do anything in the world for us. He brought us drinks to our patio all day long. He filled our hot tub with bubbles, flower petals and put candles all the way around. I can honestly say this was the best vacation ever. The upgrade to master suite is well worth it. Spend a little get a ton. :)"

"We had 7 fabulous days at this resort, Place is clean, people are friendly and staff is fabulous. They go above and beyond to take care of you and your needs. The only little down fall is housekeeping, they come around late in the afternoon when you are just getting ready for dinner other than that place is GREAT!! Restaurants are clean, food is good but the portions are quite small but its ok for those who watch their portions intake. Activities are great on property and beach. I give it an 8 of 10. Will return someday."

"Seriously a beautiful place. Service was fantastic. Food was okay. Japanese restaurant is by far the best there. Rooms were your typical resort room. Bathrooms were great. Entire resort facility was beautiful. Weather was perfect in June. Would recommend this place to EVERYone! Great for couples, great for families, great for friends. I have been to many 5 star hotels and resorts, and Now Larimar is up with the best. It may not be The Ritz, but it is great for the price and there are no huge complaints with this place. Beaches are amazing....pools are amazing...staff is wonderful!...drinks are good...activities are limitless...VERY SAFE...love love love the Dominican Republic, VIP Services, and Now Larimar!! P.S. There is no need for the 'preferred' upgrade."
