"Arrived in Costa Rica April 10. Check in was fine - we arrived late so had a sandwich ready which I was grateful for.
Experienced food poisoning after the sushi night - no perishable should be left at room temp for more than 10 minutes in that heat. I spent 46 hours in bed.
The beach was not kept clean, dogs were allowed.
Drinks: juice and alcohol were horrible. I couldn't even drink the wine. You could purchase a decent bottle of wine which we ended up doing. Never been to an all-inclusive that served such disgusting drinks. Not even real juice. Food was good - not great. I'm fairly health conscious so a lot of things I wouldn't even consider eating. I will not return to the Barcelo anytime soon."

"we went to costa rica langosta beach late november unil mid december. although the Barcelo is a decent place to stay, you have to remeber you get what you pay for. my one complaint was that it is a non smoking facility and yet alot of people were smoking around the pool and on thier decks and the staff did nothing to stop them. and i think that 2 weeks at one resort is to long as the food gets a little tiring and it is expensive to eat in town. all in all a nice place for your $"

"our trip was awesome - the whole country of Costa Rica has very friendy people... and it is a very beautiful country. Barelo was a good value, the resort was well kept and beautiful, the rooms could use a little updating, the only complaint on our room was the constant drip from the A/C, we just kept a towel on the floor below it. the room was cleaned daily and they kept us all 4 with plenty of clean wash cloths & towels... the town that is close by is over priced, a coca cola average $3 a bottle anywhere we went (including town of Libria) we had a rental car and got around quite well - but the cost of food and drinks off the resort kind of encourge you to stay fairly close. The food on the buffet was assorted a little, but there was always something good to eat... not the best by any means but good and filling. the La cart was great... we had a great time the whole time there and it as a true bargan."

"I went to Costa Rica at the beginning of November. There was a group of us that stayed at the Barcelo Langosta Beach. The hotel was situated in a great area, the beach was very nice and the grounds were well maintained. The hotel was smaller with only one main restaurant, the food was good, and then an a la carte restaurant, the food here was very good.
The staff were all very friendly and the rooms were clean. The houeskeepers also left little personal touches each day.
The nightly entertainment left a little to be desired, it was not overly good. There was a lobby bar as well which had bartenders that gave great service but it closed very early. My only real complaint would be that there was nothing to do in the hotel past 1am. A little more night life would have been nice."

"This was my first time staying at an all-inclusive resort. The food was incredibly varied and of better-than-expected quality, and as a vegetarian I found it easy to find plenty of options to eat--there were plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables for salads, and the head chef was usually available at the hot line to answer questions about which sauces or rice dishes had meat in them or not. All the staff in general were friendly and helpful at all times. I was particularly impressed with the entertainment staff and how hard they worked to make sure you had fun all day and into the evening. They hang out around the pool during the day and lead aerobics, dance classes, play ping-pong or volleyball with you, and then put on a show every night, mostly audience-participation games and dancing. Though it's not Broadway it was impossible to resist their energy, enthusiasm, and sense of fun. The only drawback - and this seems true everywhere in Costa Rica, not just this resort - is the quality of the 'included' cocktails, which are usually too sweet and too light on the low-quality alcohol for my taste. So, treat the cocktails like a sweet/dessert or appetizer drink and order wine with your meal, and that should make everything A-O.K. And go to the shows every night-- whether the crowd is large or tiny they will do their best to make sure you'll be glad you did."
